Hi guys just a quick one . I work Mon to Friday and every other Saturday. I’m in this Saturday but have a driving assessment the following Saturday for a new job . Is there anyway I can get around interrupting my rest ?
lose your card and apply for a new one.
No you can’t. Any company who is willing to do an on road driving assessment without a driver card is likely a company worth avoiding. Most companies will not entertain as assessment if you have misplaced your card.

You can if you have it available still do the assessment and have a reduced rest if the timing is right to do so. And then pay back the rescued rest.

What if I can book this Monday off .
So I had my 45 off last weekend . Do Monday to Saturday . Half day Saturday . Then have Sunday Monday off . Do Tuesday to Friday with assessment on the Saturday then have the Sunday off .

When was the last time you had at least 90 hours off in one go including sunday midnight
Answering this may allow you to do 2 reduced weekly rests back to back as it shifts the regular weekly rest from the end of the week to the start of the week then after doing 2 reduced in a row it shifts it back to the end of the week because 1 of the 2 reduced will not count for any week
Had a week off in February finished Friday the 4th was back in Monday the 14th . Just done Monday to Fridays since apart from one Saturday on the 12th of this month
It’s not your weekly rests that you can reduce every other, it’s any 2 consecutive fixed weeks must have either 1 full and 1 reduced weekly rest or 2 full weekly rests.
Have a weeks holiday, start back 0600 Mon, the week off would count as back to back full weekly rests (45 hours + 45 = 90). because a full weekly rest crossing Sunday midnight, it can count in either, but not both unless it’s a back to back weekly rest, minimum of 69 hours (45+24).
So because it’s a back to back full weekly, then the 0000 - 0600 basically counts as a full weekly rest for the coming week.
Reduce at the end.
Reduce at the end of the next week
Full at the end of the next
So you reduced, reduced, full
But the fixed weeks were full, reduced, full
If the 1st reduced crosses Sunday midnight, then both reduced are in the same fixed weeks, you would just compensate the 1 that needed the least amount of compensation.
If it was all before midnight Sunday then you just wouldn’t need to compensate that one
It works by moving the rest that counts from the beginning to the end of the week. It only works if your weekly rests cross Sunday midnight, so therefore can be counted in either, but not both. So this can’t be repeated until you have a back to back weekly rests that crosses Sunday midnight to reset it so the rest that counts is at the beginning again
You could carry the potential to do 2 on the bounce forward indefinitely so long as your weekly rest crosses Sunday midnight
Or 2 or more in the same fixed week

Can you do the driving assessment on the same Saturday that you work? Or do you need to do it asap?
Plus if you for example had the assessment drive finished for 0900 on Saturday, you could start at 0600 on Monday and still have 45 hours off
Couldn’t you just have a Saturday off the previous week , you can’t be that hard up I’m sure

Thursday today, already planned to work this Saturday, might be too late to take it off.
If you can’t get the driving assessment moved forward to this Saturday, I like stevieboy308’s idea of getting it finished 45 hrs before you start on the Monday.

In that case YOU CAN LEGALLY do 2 reduced weekend back to back
That week off meant a regular weekly rest for the week before it and a regular weekly rest for the week after it
That made the weekly rests at the start of the week
After doing 2 reduced weekends it will swap the regular weekly rests to the end of each week
One of those 2 reduced weekend will not be used as the weekly rest for any week
