It may well be an empty tanker, but it just as well may be in a loaded one. They’re two very different animals, you’re qualified so why wouldn’t they throw you in at the deep end to test your ability and confidence?
Edit to add; just noticed that they are willing to put you through your ADR, in that case and if they have any sense (and any non ADR work 
) they’ll send you out on your assessment in a loaded non haz vehicle
Depends at what adr ..guessing it’s general to carr dangerous goods on pallets etc.
And not tankers .
If its a fuel tanker? ask if they can give you any tips when discharging the load 
, I can lol.
