driving agencies

can anyone recommend any driving agencies in the Glasgow area and any to stay away from

Many people will tell you to stay away from all the agencies, but for a novice driver they are sometimes a necessary evil to get some experience under your belt.

Remember that the agency is working for themselves, not for you. You have to make your own luck and sometimes you might have to push to get what you want, not what they want. Regard them with caution, don’t trust them to look after your interests, but use them to your own advantage. It should be a symbiotic relationship with both there to serve each other.

Good summary!

A word of advice, is that they’ll promise the world. When I joined an agency, the lad gave me the full nine yards about how their clients are “desperate for Class 1 drivers”, and used lots of pretty phrases, such as “guaranteed 8 hours”, “blue-chip client”, and “high-earning potential”. In the space of a month and a half, they offered me a temp to perm Class 2 night shift, £7.50 an hour, a driver’s mate job for a supermarket, minimum wage, and finally, a truck washer, also for minimum wage (which they dressed up at “NMW”). When I left, they had the audacity to comment that I didn’t accept any jobs!

Look after yourself mate, and go directly-employed if you can! If not, try Pertemps, they’re not meant to be that bad.

thanks
