A 7.5 ton is not considered a HGV, they will expect you to have a C1 licence to have gained your 7.5 ton experience they have asked for…

I thought no rigid’s are classed as LGV’s.

Wait…I am wrong, they are. Little Girls Vehicles.

If you passed your test before 1997 you can drive a 7.5 tonne vehicle on a car licence.

If you work for ÂŁ6.50 right now you shall change :bulb:

So rigids are not HGV ? May I ask toy to explain away this misbegotten notion please.

Best ignored Butcher. He thinks he is being funny but seems to have the mind of a 5 year old.

Hiya
So I can’t claim my early years as an eight wheeler with drawbar experience as
being an LGV driver so it wasn’t until I started driving artics which I taught
myself to convert to in about half an hour and found a piece of cake compared
to driving in reverse a combination with two swivel points,I became capable of
putting one of them in a tight spot after weeks of practice, as opposed to a
couple of goes with an artic.
thanks harry, long retired.

+10000000000000000, there are some on this site who think they are such brill people, but wouldn’t last till pay day in a real lorry driving environment, and don’t they sometimes make themselves sound rather silly and childish ■■ :unamused:

Tosh,
Just because someone holds a licence with a cat` C1 entitlement does not prove they have experience.
My wife has that category , and in 21 years has never driven anything bigger than an urban people carrier . No experience whatsoever .

As for 7.5 ton, its bigger than your standard 3.5t van and has to be presented for MOT at a DVSA Goods testing centre or approved Independant.
That makes it a larger goods vehicle 2 axle .
The fact you need to pass the test standard for that extra category C1 after `97 by its nature makes it a larger goods vehicle.

But as the Op suggests , theres a job going that might suit someone.

Yes Harry I have to fully agree with you having driven a combination of vehicle that would make the majority of artic drivers look silly.

It seems some less experienced do not have much of a clue what they are talking about. :unamused:

It does bore me all this Talk of 7.5t being a Puddle jumper or a girls vehicle and or not being a proper lorry etc etc etc etc…

No I don’t drive one but I learnt a lot many years ago in one. A job is a job I bet there is some 7.5t people earning more then you somewhere

Hiya,
When renewing your licence on-line the way I do mine, you automatically
surrender your entitlement to drive vehicles of 7.5 tons it’s something to
do with a doctors certificate being required if you drive anything of that
size, or at least it was that way when I renewed on-line, it is well worth
remembering if you are of the age where you have to renew your licence
from time to time that should you wish to carry on driving those lorries
renewing on-line will only allow you the small vehicle entitlement.
thanks harry, long retired.

Quote from the advert “The latest vehicles (equipped with the most up-to-date de-mountable box systems)”

Sounds like DFS
