hello! i regularly drive 2 vehicles a day and sumtimes 3,one of witch is digi taco.if i start the day in the digi then switch vehicle to paper chart how should i be filling it in exactly? do i fill in details on the back as second vehicle and write digi details on front of chart? thanks.
I’m sure either tachograph, coffeeholic or geebee45, who are the site GURUs on this, will be along soon to give you the definitive answer
The way I’d do it, is mark the shift start on the paper tacho, and write the reg of the digi vehicle on the back, as follows “Driving digi vehicle AB 58 CDE from 01:00 to 04:00”, and have a printout with me to show the details, or, write on the back the total driving time, and any breaks taken (info copied from digi display)
Remember, that if you’ve driven a digi vehicle within the last month, you will need to have your digi card with you at all times when working, so VOSA can check it.

Not quite correct If you have been issued with a digi card you need to have it with you at all times when working regradless of whether you have ever driven a digi equipped vehicle or not. Whether you have driven one in the last month or not does not come into it. Been issued it carry it.
thank you rog!
the thing is i swap vehicle’s back and forth a few times per day surely i dont have to do a print out every time as information is stored on card? i only usualy do 8 hours a day on local delivery so never realy get close to maximum hours.we have 3 vehicles an 18 ton tipper,12 ton tipper with crane and a little 7.5 tonner.ive been filling in the paper chart as you would normaly when swapping from analogue to analogue, problem is if i jump in the digi i have an empty gap on the paper chart,is this wrong?
What I do is put a line on the back (at the relevant time) and put “COV to AB08 CDE @ time” then digi takes over, I put a line through at the end of shift with time.
Always close the chart though with your finishing place and date regardless if you finished in a digi vehicle.
so if a was to start the day in the digi then switch to analogue, which vehicle details would you enter on the front of the chart? should i enter digi details on front and then fill in analogue details in 2nd vehicle position on the back?

Personally I would enter the details for that analogue vehicle on the front of the chart because if you put the digi vehicles on the chart you are effectively making a false record because the digi doesn’t use charts. You could make a note on the chart to explain you drove a digi vehicle prior to taking over this vehicle. That way if the records are checked later the chart can be checked in conjunction with the download from your drivers card. I wouldn’t be doing any more than that and would simply use the digi card to record all activities in digi vehicles and charts for non digi vehicles. Entering the digi details on a chart, or the analogue details on a print out is wrong IMHO.
glad you said that cos thats what ive been doing for the past 6 months! only without noting any digi activities on the analogue charts at all.just a little unsure about it tho as i always have gaps of no recordings on my charts.

That’s why I too would make a note on the back of my analogue chart for the day.
Just noting that I had used a digi equipped vehicle during the blank period.
