drivers wanted

Don’t seem like a bad job you shouldn’t have much bother finding a new driver there’s a few of them on here

limeyphil:
No, i’ve been asked to take on some drivers that live on this side of the irish sea.

Good idea, your trucks will last a lot longer…
.

Jobs are filled now.

is it hourly pay? does it include nights out?
how long are you away?

limeyphil:
I need three drivers. One for Slovakia. One for Italy and one for France. I’ll give a newbie a shot at the French work and show him what’s what.

A cabbage, a pizza and a crunchie walk into a bar and…

Makes you wonder why this Irish firm couldn’t find there own drivers at that kind of money .
I would have thought they would have been queuing up for the jobs ,
he had a thread running a while ago about recruiting drivers for gist in holland
there is also one about how good Nolan’s was and all the money he was earning on there , just search his name on here and read his threads they will make you lyfao .
I know a bloke just like him , we call him billy liar

fenland nick:
I am fed up with all the whining that is spouted about pay and conditions when the reality is most of us have it easy now compared to the drivers of the past and wages should and do reflect this.
It is really simple if you don’t want to do the job get out and let those that do get on with it.

Yeh, too right mate, let’s all work for ■■■■ all, and not complain about pay and conditions because things are easier than in the past (how far in the past does your experience go exactly or are you basing your opinion on hearsay) and let’s all be thankful for ■■■■ poor pay with gratitude.
We are all so lucky to be employed these days and should be thankful to the point of accepting any old ■■■■, so kecks off and carry on touching your toes lads.

Thanks for the useless comments as usual. i knew it was a bad idea posting on here.

Well after most of the moronic bs you usualy post what do you expect

The truth is, I’ve been to many places and done many things. my life has been much more interesting than the dull lives of so many on here. it seems that when someone tells a story about an event that is more interesting than going from A to B on a crap hourly pay, or posted by someone that actually enjoys what they do.
Then it must be BS.

My life has been far from dull and ive seen plenty of the world but euro trucking just doesnt
impress me lorry driving is a job to fund my life but i quite enjoy my non hourly paid job that pays quite well.
just i know a few people who run around at the edge of the law and a few crooks and they all have something in common they dont broadcast it on the internet.
along with the working for nolan at a grand a week and if whoever your working for in norn iron is paying 680 a week after tax why he needs you to advertise on here as most firms north and south are paying no more than 100 a day.

how long till limeyphils new recruits get a criminal record then?

So, the opening post in this thread was placed yesterday at 10:20 pm.
First reply (mine) was posted this morning at 07:57 am.
Then, this afternoon at 01:08 pm all these vacancies have been filled, considering you were recruiting drivers from all over the country as per this post: “Trailers will be shipped to Liverpool/birkenhead, Heysham, holyhead, or stranraer. Just depends where the driver lives.”

How did you mange to conduct interviews, test drives, check applicant’s licences and counterparts, in such a short period of time, Phill? :open_mouth:
I recon you are wasting your talent on here, mate, you could make millions being such an efficient recruiter for transport industry.
People like you are in demand all over the country.
So, at least let us know what terms and conditions these new recruits have signed for.

Started in 86 doing multidrop handball ropes and sheets ended doing euro work for murfitts on tilts and tauts till they shut up shop. So yes I know what work is and I see from your gallery you do also.

My point is that we all have a choice if we don’t like it change I did in 04 different career path but have come back driving through choice not desperation and have found it easier than my previous experience.

Life is too short if you are not happy change.

Been driving trucks since 1989 all over the place but mostly uk. General ,removals. And for the last 7 yrs containers out of Felixstowe . Phil was offering jobs to people didn’t have to (personally I wouldn’t of bothered on here) . A few years back this used to be the place to come for info, a craic. And a good read nowadays it’s just post and be abused. Yeah Phil tells a few tales some tall some believable that you’d never see that on your night trunk… Come on fellas wind your necks and stop trolling

Please let me retort.

Are your pay and conditions really that bad? I don’t class a top line scania a bad truck. Sorry I can’t comment on your pay.

Things within the industry are easier than in the past. Mechanical loading aids means no handballing.
Modern trailers mean no roping and sheeting. ( for most)
Laws and tacho,s mean less hours
Not many of us are allowed to keep our vehicles maintained ourselves, let alone change a wheel or even wash the truck in some cases.
Driving aids make the task of driving easier.

I could continue but you get my point.

As for my experience.
86-89 7.5t handball ropes and sheets.
89-04 class1 various tasks including flats, fridges, tanks, then i spent 8yrs doing euro work tilts and tauts.
Changed my circumstances for 10yrs (still within transport industry) and returned to driving earlier this year.

So I think that qualifies me to have an opinion.

Given the state of the country we are lucky to have a job.

And as for your last comment about bending over, if you feel you are doing this then I refer back to my original comment. If you are not happy then please find something you enjoy doing.

Hopefully this answers your points.

fenland nick:

I suppose that depends on perspective. Having someone in an office away from the roads out there, watching every move you make from a satellite tracking system installed on your truck, or given customers your cab phone number so they too can hassle when you are trying to focus on your driving, seems a retrograde step to many of us.

Not everybody wants to drive to supermarkets. Those in general haulage still end up levering two tonne packs of steel into place, getting covered in oil off machinery and getting drenched when unsheeting loads in windswept yards.

For most folks, the reduction in hours directly related to a reduction in pay.

fenland nick:

The other perspective, is that hauliers should think themselves lucky that people are dumb enough to do the job it is in this modern age. With a rapidly aging driving workforce, the prohibitive cost of training and the appalling way many drivers are treated when doing the job, the future for transport is looking a bit grim.

I have a relative that has just ditched his class one job after 12 years with the same company. It had got to the point where he was seldom home anymore and this is what many drivers are finding now.

Limeyphil,do you mean Boulogne sur Mer,the French port or Bologna in Italy?
