green456:
you dont even need to keep a timesheet, I never said you did, but what you do have to do is count working time on sunday as the last day of the present week/fortnight AND not as the first day of a new week/fortnight
That’s obvious and nobody said you had to to be fair.

I will attempt to answer this query but I am not a regs GURU - geebee45, coffeeholic or tachograph are better than me on this.
Here’s an easy option for you ROG, sit back , read the post and wait for one of them to answer it if you don’t know it. We don’t need you to endorse who is qualified to answer or not. Nor do we need you to message anyone and find out the details for them, let things take their natural course without you sticking your oar in. Your advice on stuff you know about is well recieved and appreciated, don’t overdo it, frankly its overkill at best. And, in reality its confusion as you generally throw more questions into the mix than you answer.
You could add another hundred or two to the three names you give above, but we won’t go there. Give your own opinion and thats fine, stop mentioning Guru’s coming along when they’re coming along anyway and you confuse them too !!!

exactly, whats the point of having a forum to discuss things if moderators wave their lollipop stick & instruct people not to get involved in said discussions, we may all get clamped next
Well said Mike. I wish he would stop putting my name in those posts as all it does is generate a load of PM messages in my inbox for me to ignore and delete. I give advice when I know the answer and when I want to give it, not because he has put my name forward.
He has been asked before to stop using this Guru crap but as he appears to have zero respect for any ones wishes he just ignores it and continues to trot it out. I have zero qualifications in regard to the subjects I give answers on and only answer them to the best of my self taught knowledge and they could well be completely wrong, but when this trumpet insists on keeping this ridiculous Guru thing going it gives the answers far more weight than they should have and could even generate a problem if someone gets into trouble after following advice I may have given in error.

I’m not sure how you’ve read the post you’ve replied to, so i’ll try to refrain from guessing. But to stick to the facts i’m not waving my lollipop stick. I’m specifically refering to ROG guessing, asking more questions than he answers and creating more work than is neccesary and overcomplicating things. All discussions are good, even bad advice can be corrected. You yourself gave duff advice regards the fixed working week, no big deal, there’s plenty here to put it right so no harm done. You’re relativley new so we might judge you later and upon what you say, ROG has been here a while and seems to assume an ‘informative’ aura, when infact he doesn’t know to much outside of his training knowledge bearing in mind he hasn’t driven commercially for years. If you yourself keep guessing and asking for ‘Gurus’ help i’ll inform you the same. In the meantime i hope you enjoy the discussions, debates and even glean some info (from the Guru’s
).

I thought there were restrictions CH as in you can only reduce it 3 times a week?
You can reduce more than that, 6 times is possible. You can reduce 3 times between weekly rest periods
Resume work after a weekly rest period.
Monday 0600 - 2100 = reduced rest
Tuesday 0600 - 2100 = reduced rest
Wednesday 0600 - 2100 = reduced rest
Friday 0600 - 2100 = reduced rest
Saturday 0600 - 2100 = reduced rest
Sunday 0600 - 2100 = reduced rest
Six reduced rest periods in one week and legal. You would not be able to do any more after the Sunday until you had taken another weekly rest period, even though at the end of Sunday you move into a new week.
sorry but its illegal, you can only reduce daily rest 3 times per week between mon & sunday, the fact that you have taken a weekly rest midweek does not alter the fixed working week whatsoever, you must have 11 hrs rest in any 24 hour period,(forward or backwards) which may be reduced to 9 hrs 3 times per week from mon to sun
I have little knowledge of what would be legally required for a time sheet I suppose it depends on the purpose of the time sheet.
As far as this Guru and name dropping thing is concerned I basically I agree with what Mike-C and Coffeeholic has said but to be honest doubt that it will make much difference
I’ve never really understood the purpose of posting in a thread just to say who you think may know the answer
green456:
you can only reduce daily rest 3 times per week between mon & sunday
No that’s not correct
You can reduce the daily rest to no less than 9 hours 3 times between weekly rest periods so if you have a reduced weekly rest mid week you can have 6 reduced daily rest periods in the fixed week Monday to Sunday.
Click on the link in the quote for proof
Article 8.4 (EC) 561/2006:
A driver may have at most three reduced daily rest
periods between any two weekly rest periods.
I imagine the OP would be pleased to see this thread get back on topic
green456:
sorry but its illegal, you can only reduce daily rest 3 times per week between mon & sunday,
I’ve a feeling that CH maybe leading you an example, so i aint guessing what he’s at,but what you say 'between Monday and Sunday is just made up waffle, any weekly requirement is usually ‘between weekly rests periods’ and not definedby days of the week. I’m certain thats another urban myth busted.

You’re right, it doesn;t alter a fixed working week whatsoever, quite how it matters to someone who works Saturday through to Thursday is another matter again.
You typify most drivers i’ve come across who’ve been on a tacho course, they’ve heard it,asked it, know it, and aavn’t a clue !!!

Your reply to Rog seemed to be extremely harsh, that’s all. None of us are complete experts but we
all try to help. As you’ve suggested, corrections to dodgy info come thick and fast, and that applies to his posts
as well. Unlike others, many of which post incredible ‘facts’,he always admits his failings.
On regulatory subjects, posting with a disclaimer is healthy and directs the reader to further research here or elsewhere.
Perhaps an appropriately-worded message to all contributors asking them not to reply if they’re not sure…is whats
required.

Ah ! I see where we’re going now. Big bad Mike is telling poor ROG off for spurious info, when everyones at it? And you’ll tell big bad mike to pack it it in? So , you have a good idea, a disclaimer? Just like the one on the forum heading?..
Please note this forum is not a substitute for obtaining professional advice.
All good so far, you’ve told me and we have the disclaimer. Now when he messages about a simple forum question thats going to be answered do you mind if i pass them over to you, or infact i’ll ask him here to ask you instead of everyone else and you can deal with it, or should we just leave it as it is?

You are out of date with the regulations, you can reduce three times between weekly rest periods but then it was a recent change, it changed 3 years, 1 month and 4 days ago, so you may not be up speed with the regulations as a result. Also there is no such thing as a fixed working week, there is a fixed week for the purpose of calculating allowed extended driving days and weekly driving time but the working week can begin and end any time.

AaronR:
Morning, another quick question, what are the essential things which are needed on a timesheet apart from the obvious where from and where to, i.e is there a legal need to included space to record POA etc?
Regards
Aaron
The thread seems to have drifted a little.
But surely the wages department are the ones who need to set up a suitable timesheet, for instance some jobs I have had need to know total, with empty and loaded mileage separated, others have asked for transport /tank unit numbers, start and finish places and not much else. Obviously if you are paid hours you need to have start and finish times, nights out and destinations.
