I am just filling out my uniform list shirts, jumpers, trousers etc. The range we have to choose is absolutely incredible. The shirt sizes go from small to 5XL, waist sizes from 28 to 64", I mean honestly, it is unbelievable. I am deliberating between a 34 and a 36 waist, and XL in a shirt to allow room for working in. Just who are they catering for at these sizes. I am an odd waist size at 35 but can normally get into a 34. Just how bloody enormous is your average driver. No wonder everyone scoffed at my suggestion of a tanning salon and gyms been a good idea at truck stops.

I’d say I’m about the size of the third guy from the left in that picture and I’m only driving 2 years so I’m not doing well so far all things considered! I know a couple of drivers who wear 5XL lol, I reckon the average tramper bound to be L or XL at least!

There was a rumour or drivers myth, that firms would dock the pay of overweight drivers to cover the excess fuel.
The same for tyre wear on one side.
Stats, 50’’ chest. 19’’ biceps, 36’’ waist and a getting there 6 pack. Dont need a tanning salon but UKT’ suggestion of gyms is a great one but sadly too many would rather stuff a fully loaded cow pie…aka desperate dan…

Biggest out of shape driver i ever saw was on one of the M62 ■■■■■ up the wheel services, this guy literally struggled to get one leg in fron t of the other, had the biggest belly to match any Sumo and after holding the grab handle took three swings of a leg to get himself on the first step. Seat was all the way back and he drove off with arms at full stretch on the wheel. Doubt there was ever any uniform that would fit…
Had a mate of mine who was a trucker, and a middle east driver too…he weighed 36 stone…steering wheel dug into his belly…ended up marrying some thai bird, after his mum died and left the house to him which he sold, furnishing her and her family, but got called back to the uk for a court case regarding a false benefit claim…anyway he died in his hotel room, as the case had been adjourned because he couldnt fit in the witness box…you couldnt make it up…maybe some will know him as Egg on legs ( kenny bowkett )
Moving on from this, i am a size L…but trousers are a problem…i normally fit a 38" waist, but am now having to use a 38" with an elastic waistband…time for a diet and a bit of gym work out methinks !
There was a rather large driver at a place I used to work and they had to get trousers specially made for him. When they arrived two of the traffic office birds tried them on and one fitted in each leg.

I’m now a 40" waist and 14st 10lb

Shirts are a 3x sometimes a 4x depending on fit.
Trousers are a real b@gger though. 34" waist but a 38 leg! Most trousers make it look like I’m wearing plus 4’s! 
Still fit and active despite the receding hairline (Hair? Wassat?)
As my username implies, I’m a larger bloke I’m a 40 inch waist and weigh 18+ stone, but it’s not a problem for me. I’m able to do anything I could possibly need to do without breaking a sweat.
I must admit I have seen and worked with some blokes who are at the extreme end of the spectrum, it’s a wonder they can leave the house, so fair play to them for going out and earning a crust
I find it strange this you get fat because your a tramper , I find the opposite , 6 weeks off and I’ve gone up 1/2 stone , purely because I eat properly at home whereas miss breakfast / meals , forget to eat when tramping , was 11 1/2 stone , now 12 stone
The thing always baffles me is how larger folk get in and out of the truck on ferries. I’m over 6ft and 17stone 8lbs and I find it hard at the best of times. If you were 5xl do you just never leave the cab on the boat? [emoji23]
