revman:
hi Valkyrie I sent u a message earlier to have a look at this on flikr fairground lorries regards alan

Hi Alan i had an e mail from my old boss he went away for a couple o wks his daughter says and she will ask him about the AEC i am not sure whether anyone gets the smilies when i try to put them on putting one on now can you let me know :astonished:

AEC HG 1014 JOHN PULLEN PULLIN MYATTS TRANSPORT,CUDWORTH,BARNSLEY.

The AEC in the above colour photograph is of the following motor lorry:-

AEC Mammoth Major Eight Mk II,Luton Girderframe-bodied Eight-Wheeler Lorry,
Chassis No.0386080.
Registration:DHX 532.
Registered in Middlesex in 1936.
It was an AEC Demonstrator,
then
Wadsworth Transport,Cardiff,Wales,
then
British Road Services - BRS,
then
to a currently unknown travelling showman.
It was stored at Bressingham Steam Museum for a number of years:-

But has now been bought for restoration, and made an appearance at the AEC 100th Anniversary Rally,Newark,Whitsuntide,2012:-

This AEC appears to have a Duramin cab,and was probably fitted in the early post war years.
H G 1 0 1 4:-
As I said in an earlier post, the Myatts Transport/John Pullen AEC Mammoth Major Six 680 Six-Wheeler Lorry,HG 1014 had a late 1930s style Tillotson Mammoth Major Cab…complete with the exhaust system mounted on the roof of the cab.
As I said in a private EMail to a member:-
“Apart from the photograph of AEC,HG 1014,published in the Barry S.Watson book - and the photograph of that AEC 6-wheeler lorry, which is possiably HG 1014 - on TruckNetUK,I’ve only ever come across two unclear photographs:1.A colour photograph of John Pullen’s Swings, with the rear of the lorry facing the camera:Not sure if it’s the AEC or the replacement Atkinson.2.A black & white photograph of a fairground bus with loads of fairground vehicles, trailers, etc,in the background, including a partly obscured HG 1014:You can see the rear wheels, the top and part of the side of the body and the exhaust system on top of the cab - very frustratingly you cannot see anything else!
I wonder if Paul Motyka will know the identity of that AEC six-wheeler Lorry, and if he has any photographs of HG 1014. Strangely,he has hasn’t responded to any of my comments yet.”

That’s all for now.Cheers.

VALKYRIE.

AEC MAMMOTH MAJOR SIX HG 1014 JOHN PULLIN - PULLEN MYATTS TRANSPORT

In a private message to a TruckNetUK Member,I said that I was going to search for an
magazine article that has some photographs of Myatts lorries -I’ve now found it!

Wrecks To Riches Series,by Nick Baldwin, pages 56 and 57,in the June 2005 CLASSIC AND VINTAGE
COMMERCIALS Magazine.
Nick Baldwin mentions that he had some relatives in Barnsley,by way of introducing Bill Stothard,
of Cudworth,Barnsley, who aparrently drove,or "had personel experience " of certain lorries,
including some Myatts lorries.Three photographs of Myatts Transport lorries are published:-
Austin K4,Tipper-bodied,4x2 Lorry,BHE 335.
Albion M550,Dropside-bodied,4x2 Lorry,DWW 288.Published in this thread.
AEC Mammoth Major Eight Mk II 0386/20,Dropside-bodied,8x4 Lorry,GWW 578.Already published in
this thread.
Myatts Transport were part of British Road Services at one time - 65D and 5A were the BRS
codes, and Myatts ran a daily Yorkshire to London trunking service from the 1920s to the 1970s.

So I wonder if Bill Stothard has any other photographs of Myatts Transport lorries, including
AEC Mammoth Major Six HG 1014.

Hi,
I have a few pictures of Myatts and Masons. I’m still trying to find more reference for my model projects. My family grew up in Cudworth, my dad and uncles remember seeing these at top of Cudworth.
All the best,
James
