Drivers CV

Anyone changed their CV to a drivers type format for driver/truck jobs?

I have an office type of CV will that make a big difference getting interviews? New driver.

A CV should be individual, not some pen pusher’s or even a driver’s CV as such, you want it to stand out from the duplicated identi-■■■■■■■■ that potential employers see and are bored stiff by every day of the week.

One page not a mini book that take ahalf an hour to wade through, it should comprise a personal statement (here you highlight why you are different from the borg, ie never ever taken a sick day, never late, accident free history), a short concise history of your qualification and any specialist skills, and your work history.

You do not need to list that you are a team player or honest of any of that guff, because no bugger in his right mind is going to admit the opposite, so it goes without saying.

CV’s are best kept with you and carry the most weight following a cold call where the potential employer expresses and interest, bit of boy scout i was prepared and here’s that CV impresses, you’re already ahead of the herd and you’ve only been there 2 minutes :sunglasses:

Its needs to be built over time so change nothing major if your new

I have a small section right at the top titled ‘Driving Licenses’ and it looks like this -

Driving Licenses
0 points
C+E, 3 months experience
C, 1.5 years experience
CPC valid until 2021

So straight away a potential employer can either sack me off or carry on reading my cv if I meet the company insurance policy based on my experience.

My whole cv goes like this -
personal details
driving license summary
employment history
education
“references available upon request”

1 page, neatly presented.

I’ve left off a couple of past short term employers and extended the time I spent at a previous job. They were tipper companies and not very well regarded ones around here.
I included my recent crappy previous job, putting that I took this due to being made redundant but I was keen for a new challenge.
