Drivers CPC Question.

Having just renewed my licence, probaly the last time as the next renewal will be retiring age, and as I do not drive for a living, ( although done weekend chilled delivery )my question is will I have to completed the drivers CPC by September 2014?, I have held the licence since 1976, so grandfather rights apply.
As my present job is a 3 year contract which finishes April 2014, I want to ensure I keep up to date so perhaps I could at least keep occupied and earning by driving, this is one reason I follow this forum and I hope this question doe’s not fall into the ‘stupid question’ category.
Thanks in advance.

So long as you have no intention of driving commercially beyond Sept 2014 then you will not need to complete any CPC modules as you have acquired rights. If you decide in April 2014 that you wish to continue then you will be pushed to get your 35 hours completed before the rollover in Sept.

I think that you should check out any local haulier or bus firm and see if you could attend any courses that they are planning for their own staff.Obviously you would have to pay but thats life nowadays.

Allegedly!

It would be nice to think there will be a shortage of good trainers, unlike now.
