DriverCPC South Yorkshire

.
I recently spent a few days visiting an old workmate up in Sheffield.

His firm had booked and paid for him to do a DriverCPC module with
Driver Hire in Sheffield so I took the opportunity to join him and get
another seven hours under my belt, at my own expense.

It was an excellent course, compared to others that I have done and I
would certainly recommend it to any HGV Driver who has not yet sorted out
his / her own DriverCPC course.

Plenty of interesting trucking DVD’s to watch and great banter / discussion
with the other nine lads present.

It cost me £65, all inclusive of VAT, registration, light lunch, tea & coffee.

Well worth the effort and I would certainly do another module with them.

What specifically made it so gripping please tell
Jim

its ■■■■ just a money earner i don’t know a industry that expects you to pay £65 to £85 x 5 for a coarse that if your on agency you have to pay urself and get £9 ph just a joke :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

I wouldn’t get too excited about it Jim !

I just see it an opportunity for Drivers in South Yorkshire to get their DriverCPC
done who may not know about it - I didn’t know that Driver Hire even ran a
course because I’ve never worked for them and I haven’t seen them advertise it.

I’ve done three other modules with other providers and they were boring.
This one has quite a few interesting DVD’s on VOSA and Accident Investigation -
like what the hell are they doing when they shut the motorway for six hours ?

There’s also a cartoon about a truck running into standing traffic and causing
carnage like you’ve never seen - but its only a cartoon of fantasy - until the
cartoon slowly turns into a real life incident and an actual event.

The classroom goes quiet for once…

Ok diesel I get you, still boring but not as boring as other modules.
I too have done 3 with 2 to go, one this year and one 2014 if I get in touch with the provider and say we want cartoons and stuff will that do it do you think ?

I think that’s a marvellous idea Jim, sheer professionalism on your part !

In fact if I were you Jim, I would refuse to do the course unless I had a guarantee
that Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner would be making personal appearances
in the classroom to discuss cornering techniques and damage limitation.
.

Consider it done Diesel, drivers hours and daily checks are all very well but we need it bringing down to our level.
Beep Beep… Zoom!!!
ps if I knew how to upload links and stuff there’d be a cartoon here

I’ve done 4 lot’s of mine so far. without doubt the most interesting and informative module for me was a first aid one, i learnt alot that day well worth the time money and effort involved

I see what you are getting at mate, but the only chance of me finding it interesting or whatever, is if I was doing it in works time and getting paid for it, I could think of better, and in fact more worthwile, things to use my 65 notes on, nothing or nobody will ever get me to agree with this revenue raising, job creating ■■■■■■■■.

I agree - but if you want to wake up on Wednesday 10th September
next year as a Professional Truck Driver, you’ll either have to cough
up or find a kind hearted employer to sponsor you.

80 weeks to go.

By editing my post I assume that you disagree with the rest of it, so I rightly or wrongly take it that you agree with or even embrace this legislation, but just humor me for a minute bearing in mind it would never happen, and tell me what you would think would happen if everybody saw it for what it really was and ignored it, would none of us wake up on that day as PFDs by their criteria, and would they put us all off the road, I reckon not.

It would be rather unprofessional of me if I didn’t embrace all the legislation and
it would leave me feeling rather bitter and twisted.

Don’t worry, you’ll be a better man in 80 weeks, and proud of your new CPC card.

I’ve not seen First Aid advertised.
But I suppose I’d have to be grateful if I was ever received mouth to mouth
resusitation from a big burly trucker.

When you get your DriverCPC Card, employers will be queing up and fighting each
other in order to secure your professional services. It’s a solid investment.

Some Drivers are far from professional at the moment.
Not one in a recent class answered the following question correctly :

You check your tyres every day.
At what point do they become illegal ?
