And I get a £420 basic, £23 a night out, all expenses paid (as long as I don’t take the ■■■■) £8 for Saturday & £10 for Sunday
I do a bit of driving for an O/D and get £100 a day plus £20 night-out money, so your not far out on your figures. I don’t consider it bad money after tax etc has been taken off, especially as I only do a few days a month for him. It has been quiet since Xmas though.
try paying per trip. the more you earn, the more he earns.
bone idle jobsworths need not apply. you can pay the fines.
You could try offering what I got at my first ever HGV job 15 years ago -
"First 3000 kms = £300 then your on 17 p / mile driver ".Traction work for a well known Irish Logistics firm . 3 loads of groupage a week 12 - 16 drops/load from Newcastle on Tyne to Kings Lynn usually reloading out of Scunthorpe. All backloads to be delivered in Ireland and your next trailer loaded and waiting for you . Sleep - "You will get 2 hours when you get to the boat "
Don’t expect the phone to be ringing off the hook though .

how many can you do per day?
It varies to much to work it on that basis some days 4 very local others 2 Milton Keynes a day rate is simple and any driver I get won’t be dragging things out for long.

Not sure what the going rate is for a driver on this work is. I know what I can afford to pay just want to know if the two are in the same area.
