I would be grateful if someone could advise on the following.
iirc a driver was required to retain weekly vehicle checks for 28 days and be able to present this for a DVSA inspection. In the back of my mind i think i remember seeing an email [I’m on the DVSA mailing list] which stated a change which was that they expected drivers to present 2 months [or maybe it was 3 months]. Been searching for this email and can’t find it.
Two reasons for asking:
a] some firms now give one a tablet and these don’t save previous day’s checks - just sent to office.
b] similarly like my current job they have a paper sheet which one hands in at the end of the day. I have been using a week check sheet of my own and kept these for a possible inspection.
What are other folk doing?
I use the R2C app for my daily checks. I assume that the office have access to my previous checks and if I could be arsed I probably could find all my previous checks on said app.
Didn’t know a driver was meant to keep 28 days worth or vehicle checks.
Was always told on CPC courses as long as it’s checked daily doesn’t have to to be by the driver can be by anyone competent.
Are you sure you mean vehicle checks, and not getting confused with Tacho records? I’ve never heard of needing to keep vehicle checks for 28 days, and for many, that would be impractical anyway (unless it’s on an app).
Yes i did mean vehicle checks and not tacho records. Thx for your replies i’ll just see what my new employer says but i am sure i read it somewhere.
I’d imagine the employer transport manager would have to keep them for a certain amount of time.
As far as I’m aware daily check sheets etc long as you have one for the day your driving that’s all you need .
Imagine having carry around 28 days worth and check sheets especially if you work at a place that uses trucks on nights as well that’s a lot of papers to carry about..ok granted only a book but you get my point
