Driver two slot

shep532:
You gotta give them 9 out of 10 for trying!!!

And they call us stupid:lol::lol:

Honked:
That would be ‘Authorised’ As above, suits getting in the way of logic and sense. Can’t see how another driver who is driving the same vehicle, can reduce delays. Bad planning and poor management seems to be the culprit here

The driver can take their card out if they are no longer in control of the vehicle (leaving it in the responsibility of the shunter) then reinsert it when they regain control of the vehicle and do a manual entry to record the time they spent in the canteen as a break.

As for why it may reduce delay, the driver can be on their break while a shunter is moving the vehicle within the yard, rather than having the driver shunting the vehicle then having to take their break once they have been loaded.

waynedl:
HOWEVER, 1st 45 mins of POA in slot 2 counts as break anyway

Only if you’re multi-manning. Doing what he is it doesn’t.

Conor:
I think that the tacho automatically switches driver 2 to PoA when the truck is being moved.

What would be better is to remove the card, keep it on you then when you get back in the truck do a manual entry.

Spot on, it does and you should.

What it boils down to is :imp: they don’t want you to have YOUR 45 min BREAK! :smiling_imp: you know that legal thing, :bulb: suits with no idea I’ve heard some bs in my time! driver/ OP HAVE A FORTY FIVE BEFORE YOU GET BACK TO YARD, they’re taking the schmeichel :grimacing:

As said above I’m pretty sure the rest mode reverts to poa when it is driven. So if you where 30 minutes into a 45 and it’s moved, then you would need another 30min break to reset your driving time.

I’d personally take the card out then do manual entry. I’m not a fan of this either but it’s the better of two evils. If you where to be stopped by Dvsa, the truck would show driving without card at the same time as your manual entry break. Yeah it can be explained but it does look suspicious imo.

No. The OP quite clearly says they want him to to the canteen and have 45 minutes break. They want to be able to move truck whilst he is doing that, nothing wrong with that, just the way they wish to achieve it!

at the end of the day

IT’S YOUR CARD not the company’s take it out - take it with you - do manual entry’s when you put it back in . there is no requirement for you to do a printout because as far as you know your changing or potentially changing over to another vehicle.

Years ago on B&Q we would go up to the DC drop the trailer and take the unit to the VMU for service whilst having your break.
so it was card out (old paper disc) while the fitter played .
