911 recovery…
a dubious mob who appeared years ago and immediately took over the desirable police recovery contracts that was a xlosed shop.
obviously they must have decided there would be a " risk of flight "for the driver for reasons unknown otherwuse he would be on bail. you can see how he is completely crucified by the in cab camera which is his own fault for bending over to allow it.

Well in this instance the in cab camera proved he killed the woman … time to ban phones in cabs and cars all together.

Why ban phones from cabs and cars ■■?..bluetooth works fine, and your eyes are still on the road…maybe the 5 year sentence should be obligatory, as thats what the driver got…so if found to have used a phone prior to an accident…expect the same…not all drivers are idiots…certainly this one was.

Why impose more draconian rules and prohibitions?
We’re already mostly tracked, we have a tachograph to account for everything, most have at least a dashcam and some have in-cab cameras plus there’s the whole actually being caught thing.
I agree obviously nobody should be using a phone whilst driving and millions can manage without it everyday including me. But the phone is in my cab. I just exercise restraint so as not to use it. Let the guilty ones hang, but don’t ensure every one is put under a blanket ban.

my opinion would be to ban cab facing cameras in the cab so as not to incriminate oneself in the event of any accident regardless of whos to blame, though theres n chance of that with thousands of lemmings already bending over to drive with them installed anyway.

Bit harsh. Legal requirement in some cases. Front, rear, cab, sides.
Along with panic buttons, beacons, strict audited procedures to be followed etc.
Health ‘n’ safety gone mad, innit, but if the driver self-distracts with his phone and kills someone he’s a zb ing zb and deserves more than he’s got in this instance.
Got to be careful here as a poor woman has lost her life,.and if it had been my wife, mam, or daughter I would want to rip that ■■■■ 's head off.
This guy deserves all he gets.
On the other hand these ■■■■ cameras are sending drivers to jail, despite the official dog ■■■■ of being ‘‘there to protect us’’ .
The puritan self righteous types on here who never do anything wrong will be shocked , but those of us who sip coffee, adjust radios, eat a Mars bar or scratch our arses (with our eyes fully on the road while doing so
) need to be warned that whether or not those activities are right or wrong, the law is going to consider them as contributory factor to a similar ■■■■ up situation, even if they are not.
So have a think before you readily accept them without argument, it could bring a ■■■■ storm down around your lugs big style.

+1
my sentiments entirely my good man…
it wont be long till theres the outcome of a case dependant on the result of the question…the camera recorded you yawning 3 mins before the accident,so when you became aware you were overtired, did you disregard the option to pull over safely and take a break?
And yet people on here moan when the police go out in unmarked tractor units catching lorry drivers.
The in cab footage wasn’t needed for the guilty verdict but it did serve to end any possible defence for his actions.
I’m beginning to think that everyone except ME should have them fitted !
Cab camera or no cab camera, the police would easily be able to find out if he was using his phone at the wheel.

Fair comment, but for every one phone user, ■■■■ watcher, or sausage fryer who are the real danger, there are 10 practicing the activities listed in my last post, but who are in full control (whether you or they like it or not,) funding their real agenda.
After saying that I got snooped on the other week by these ■■■■■, just as I was checking my start time for all of literally 1 to 2 seconds in my note book, ( shock horror hang me now) despite my tactfullly placed side curtains.
I was chucking the book down just as he was snouting at me through his camera, he got the full hand gesture and lip read of F .off.
His mate in the BMW pulled me,
( the prick with the camera tried to goad me into having a pop at him, but ■■■■ ed off when I wouldn’t bite)
To be fair the one in the BM was an old fashioned type copper who used discretion and cautioned me.
Think he was impressed with my clean licence after such a long time driving …who knows.
So despite some of my previous posts not all coppers are ■■■■■ after all.
Bring on the puritans who say I should lose my licence for taking my eye off the road for 2 seconds or so.
Regardless of opinion on rights or wrongs the guy deserves all he gets.
He caused a death by being distracted full stop. Something he could have avoided had he been looking where he was going.

…or just don’t use your phone whilst driving?
5 years is a joke - the law needs changing so it can be manslaughter which gives judges a greater scope for sentencing

tell it to the masses who dont care as its use is of epedemic proportions similar to speeding as nobody but the sanctomonious few on here think its of any importance till they get caught.
