In summary …
Theres a shortage of GOOD drivers .( defined as experienced clean licence holders who have a record of year upon year of accident free work .)
AND a surplus of idiots .( the rest of industry )
The idiots act as a brake on pay rises for the good .
As long as the supply of idiots out number the vacancies there will be no realistic pay rise , because its cheaper for the industry to pay the insurance premiums and continue to cause carnage on the roads
And thus protect the excessive profits paid to the suits , in an industry with a ceiling on revenue
The best way for GOOD drivers to change the dynamic is to continually change their employer. Any good driver who has held same job for more than a year is a disgrace .
there is only a shortage in certain parts of the country, this is because someone build a big yard and 3 other people go oh lets do the same .
and even then most of these are no more than steering wheel attendants.

Most so called good jobs ive come across are only good because drivers are conditioned to have very low expectations

I quite believe that. In fact over time I also believe that you’ve swapped “won’t” from “don’t”.
Those with the good jobs keep schtum about where they are too, imagine the three forum trolls above above turning up one monday, followed by the sound of 40 driver’s chins hitting the floor wondering which of our gaffers had taken something mind altering, job’d be buggered by wednesday.
Thankfully someone who changes jobs like i do me undies won’t ever get these jobs, good employers won’t give fly by nights the time of day.
