Driver shortage

Some of you are like cry babies. “I don’t want to work nights, I don’t want to work weekends, I want to sleep in my own bed etc”.
Sometimes you can’t, sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Even if its working on Christmas, like I have done in the past, because we can’t pick and choose, as we are small puzzle from the economy.

Pimpdaddy:

commonrail:
The drivers that are replacing them…won’t have nights out.

Why should they, nights out are zb…!

Being limited to local driving so I can make back to base every night seems [zb] to me.

You can pick and choose to an extent.
But if you limit your options for work don’t complain when you can’t find work.
If you work for a company that does national haulage, don’t complain when you get asked to do nights out
If you work for a company that does European work, don’t complain when you end up weekended out somewhere.

the maoster:
I would imagine that nights out can certainly be [zb]. It all depends on how you take your nights out tbh. We have guys where I work who’ll tell me that nights out are crap and when I ask them where they parked they will say “oh in a layby on the A blah blah blah, or in such and such services” and I say “yeah, they’re crap when you’re an idiot and park in them places”.

The secret is to not run until 9 hours 50 minutes and then look for somewhere to park, find somewhere earlier, park up, go for a walk, find a nice pub, have a meal and a couple of pints and actually talk to strangers! Yeah, scary thought innit? Seriously, nights out are what you make them, if you lack imagination or the bottle to go off the beaten track then they will be dismal and dreary affairs. You get out what you put in.

I’d rather just go home after my days work thanks. You know, like a normal person.

There’s two types of lorry drivers; those who treat it as a job, which is what it is… and those who treat it as a life, which it certainly isn’t.

If i wanted an everyday job,i’d go back to the factory.

Why not have the best of both worlds?

A ■■■■ easy job driving around listening to the radio all day and then home for tea every night?

I really don’t understand the love for tramping. You must have some real issues in your home life (or no home life at all) if you prefer to spend your free time in the same vehicle you spend all day in.

I don’t spend ALL of my free time in the vehicle i’ve spent all day in

So you go to the pub? Awesome.

Each to their own I suppose, but as far as I’m concerned, that ain’t no life.

Yes i go to the pub.i’m in the smithfields at uttoxeter atm and i’m odds on for a gummy ■■■■■■■■ off the hot gilf sat about 6 inch to my left

Like you say Contraflow, each to their own, I’m certainly not going to criticise any person who wants to be home every night. Personally, ever since I learned to walk and open doors I’ve had wanderlust, tramping goes some way to satisfying that want in me.

Define normal?
Loads of different people do different jobs, some are Monday to Friday 35 hours a week, others work shifts and get to see their families less than those tramping and then it’s not only the haulage industry that’s needs people who’'l spend time away from home many other industries need those sort of people, if everybody had a job that meant they went home every night then the country would grind to a halt.

Yes, but it’s the sucker’s doing the later, unless they are being well remunerated for their effort. A lorry driver doing nights out for £20 per night, does not.

How many ales have you had? Are you sure that “hot gilf” sat to your left isn’t a bloke? Why are you on TruckNet? Doesn’t she/he object to your ignorance?

Just admit it. You’re in your cab Commonrail. When you get off here, you’re going to crack one out into your sock over a girl who briefly made eye contact with you in The Smithfield in 1998.

Bless.

Do your job, go home.

Contraflow:

That’s not normal for many people in many jobs other than truck driving.

And if your home life is so great what are you doing up at this time on a truck drivers forum?

muckles:

My wife is in a catatonic state after two bottles of wine and one portion of Contraflow. I’m not tired yet.

It is for some people…

Get to bed Pimpdaddy. Early start in the morning. Those onions won’t pick themselves.

I know I asked for it, but a bit to much information really.
