In the Wiltshire Times online paper dated 17/12/20 , it mentioned an angry lady cyclist who gets abuse from not using a dedicated cycle Lane outside Bradford on Avon , she refuses to use it as it’s too slippery from the leaves and can’t see the potholes.
And no room for two cyclists, she uses the road which causes queues of traffic behind her, motorists gesticulating, hooting their horns and swearing, so she contacted the paper .
She says a bus driver sounded his horn and swore at her when he overtook her . It would be impossible for her to hear what he said with the doors and windows shut on his bus and the engine noise and passengers as a witness, but she never reported the other motorists.
Interesting thing is , in the reader’s comments , the bus driver defended himself saying she is a liar and portrayed him to his employer as the rude and aggressive one , when in fact, she is .
She lied as the incident with the bus was a month before, he sounded the horn to make her known of his presence which is allowed by law , he later stopped in town where she verbally abused him when he remained polite and takes photos of him .
So two sides to every story .
I am a cyclist too , some of us dont do our selves any favours. When a bus is in motion its not possible to open the doors . I hope that the bus is fitted with cctv cameras.
Happens all the time at my place, latest one was, 2 caravans travelling together reported a driver for being aggressive and rude for flashing head light at them when they pass him on motorway!!.
someone in office had a brain told the muppets that he was flashing them because they pass him and it was safe for them to pull in !!!
It’s clear that the ‘cycle lane’ spree is all about the politics of envy reclaim the streets agenda helped by their Commy freinds who’ve infiltraded our government system.
It has nothing to do with cyclists wanting dedicated road provision.It’s all about the removal of road space for motor traffic which they see as bringing everyone down to their level.
The obvious usual MO is that they get their cycle lane/s then they refuse to use them.In the knowledge that now there is no space to pass them safely because the unused cycle lane has removed the road space.Or they use other roads staturated with parking issues to the same end.They see that as a type of victory for their cause.This isn’t just an isolated occurrence.
So the leaves supposedly only affect the cycle lane and they can only see potholes in the road but not those in the cycle lane.
Fair play to the bus driver to defend himself, I bet she one those Nimbies that form action groups to prevent new houses , of which Chippenham Nimbies that have a house to live , don’t want to look at new ones on their sacred dog walk by a pretty river .
At the same time , they don’t want a new bypass for Melksham and Chippenham and would rather choke to death in traffic fumes of which Bradford on Avon is a bucket of pollution.
