when i first saw the pic i thought it was the spellowgate bridge on the outskirts of driffield but the papers say on the A64 malton flyover, the bridge on the pic is identical to the spellowgate laybye bridge.

Someone told me about this crash the other day and said the cab and trailer were sliced in half i thought he was going over the top a little bit but hell that driver must have used a few lives there
I remember a similar incident on the A1M near Durham quite a few years ago now but this had a more tragic outcome, I still don’t think any conclusion was given as to how it happened, falling asleep usually gets blamed when nothing else fits. There is a phenomenon known about where vehicles can get drawn into rearending other vehicles either broken down or stopped on the hardshoulder, in the cold light of day this seems unlikely but it does happen with some regularity and again the reason can only be guessed at. This type of collision could be similar. At least in this case the driver should be able to give an account of what happened. Franky.
I bet that made a bang
Who would’ve thought the driver could walk away from that I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I’d ever drive a lorry again after that, I don’t think you’d ever get two shots at luck like that
posted about this the other day…

Hiya …i had a bit of bad luck in 1980 i rolled a MAN 8 legger off the road in deep snow(20 tons of cast iron)on the back.
the company sent out a artic and trailer, 10 of us got the scrap back onto the trailer(out of the snow) my mates said carry
on we’ll go home in the van. the V reg MAN was a rite off and i aquired a 72…K ,reg Atki.never rolled another.
there was a adams butter driver run a ergo AEC into some girders on the M1, they cut off the girders and took him with
the steel sticking out back and front of him to Luton hospital where they opperated on him… 3 years later he was doing
Leek/ London trunk again on the same job.

Looks like 56 to 0 in half a second, I would walk away from the job forever.
This happened so close to my house I’m surprised I didn’t hear the bang. Local papers full of it, lucky guy
