Driver killed on the M62 by exploding tyre

a lorry driver was killed yesturday on the hard shoulder of the M62 near pontefract.

I actually saw the truck on the hard shoulder but thought nothing about it, only that a VOSA people carrier was pulled up behind it with the flashers on, but only realised what had happened when I heard about it on the radio today.

That’s a ■■■■ shame, it’'s strange how these things happen, but it just goes to show, anything can happen out there.

Which is why, if you’re uncertain about a truck tyre, you stay well clear of it. Especially if you have a brake fire or something like that. They go off like a bomb.

If you have a brake/grease/tyre fire (rarer nowadays) best to keep going, phone the fire brigade, “when you catch me, I’ll stop”!!
Cos as soon as you stop it will set fire to the trailer.
But I think you’d have lots of flashing/waving/pointing skate board drivers to contend with.

Condolences to the family & friends of above driver, who, i guess, had just set off to a normal days work!
