Not a lot of detail to comment on except for that councillor woman who says she thinks lay-bys are provided for drivers to take a rest.

The UK amazes me, huge firms pay millions to build new Rdc areas the size of airport terminals but nobody cares about the safety and welfare of visiting drivers.
Once tipped or loaded, they want you off site, overnight parking prohibited signs everywhere.
Does the council lady know about weekly rest periods, and also waiting for a backload to Turkey or Romania, they can sit in a layby for a week or more .
Remember 20 or more trucks of Willi Betz with the drivers laundry hanging to dry on the wire fence at Msa,s .

""Rosita Page, who is the county councillor for Lutterworth, said the lay-bys near the town were often in use by foreign lorries going to and from Magna Park.

She said: "It’s an awful thing to happen and I’m very sad to hear about it.

"The lay-bys around Magna Park are always full because we have a massive amount of lorries that have an allotted amount of time before their drivers have to take a rest “”

then why is the idiot council not insisting that Magna Park should provide parking ■■

there is masses of room , and they could limit parking to an hour if necessary .

but instead if you stop for a minute the mini hitler in a van is all over you like a plague

i dont understand why they even give planning permission if no parking is provided .

""The decision over a massive warehouse development at a major industrial park is due to be made next week.

The controversial application to build a 100,844 sq ft warehouse and develop nearly 600 acres of farm land for parcel company DHL at Magna Park, Lutterworth, has been recommended for approval.

Harborough District Council’s planning committee are holding an extraordinary meeting on January 28 to give their verdict.

If approved, the site will be one of the biggest warehouses in the world and could create 1,200 new jobs.

The centre would be served by a new access road and the plans include creating a roundabout and partial dualling of the A5 plus development of public transport infrastructure.

It is one of two major planning applications by Magna Park owner IDI Gazeley – the second is to develop 105 acres of warehouses on a 590-acre site next to the distribution park, creating about 5,000 jobs.

The third, submitted by DB Symmetry, wants to build its own distribution park on the other side of the A4303. It wants nearly 278,709 sq ft of buildings on 220 acres of farmland to the south, creating around 3,500 jobs.

All three applications have been strongly opposed by local residents and action groups.

Villagers living around Magna Park are concerned the proposed expansion would not only destroy scenic countryside but lead to an increase in traffic problems, noise and nuisance.

Action Group Magna Park’s Big Enough said the DHL bid has received nearly 900 formal objections.

They will be holding a demonstration outside of Lutterworth High School, on Woodmarket Road, from 6pm ahead of the 6.30pm council meeting.

Maggie Pankhurst, from the group said, if approved, traffic is expected to increase by up to 13% on roads which already carry an “excessive load”.

The proposed site would be bigger than the town of Lutterworth.

Councillor Phil King, Harborough District Council’s portfolio holder with responsibility for planning, said: “This application will be considered by the planning committee on its own merit and go through the same robust decision-making process as all planning applications.

Nimbies again, they object to 1200 new jobs but most likely moved in the area knowing full well it is a growing business area, they are like these idiots that move by an airport and stop new runways or curtail am and pm flights .
Or move to the country to set up action committees to stop the church bell ringers, the milking machine, cockerels wake up calls, and cows mooing .

perhaps .

but the point i was making is council are giving permission for all these new warehouses and not considering making a compulsory truck park part of the plans .

and as its the same mob as the existing industrial estates no doubt we wont be able to stop anywhere for even a 15 min break .

its at this stage of planning that parking should be sorted out , in my view .
