40 years of long hours under EU rule.Time 10 or so hours should be lobed off the working week, a re introduction of double time ect for sundays and night s aect ect…“Charter of Fundamental Human Rights
The UK obtained a clarifying protocol, Protocol 30, which clarifies that the Charter does not extend the ability of the European Court of Justice to find UK law inconsistent with the Charter.
This exemption was obtained because of fears the Charter would infringe on UK labour law.”We`re already excluded from EU interference in our labour laws. Our noble politicians decided to protect us workers from those interfering Eurocrats ages ago.
If you think the UK laws are bad…blame the UK Gov, maybe?
Ask our members who work for French companies whether they get overtime and extra for weekend work ?
Meanwhile the worker friendly EU imposes 9 hours daily rest between shifts and a race to the bottom single transport market which means loads between UK - West Euro going on East Euro trucks and even some domestic UK loads. In addition to a single labour market.Which at best means an over supplied labour market or at worst jobs advertised as being vacant for the ‘right’ immigrant applicants are suddenly claimed as being no longer available for the ‘wrong’ indigenous applicants. All part of an agenda of minimising wage costs for employers. So tell us how can our our MEP vote stop all that with less than a 10% stake in the EU parliament.Let alone the Commissioners and their puppets in the ECJ making the rules according to what the German bankers tell them they want.
As opposed to telling the local constituency MP that we want domestic regs which mean what they say ( IE domestic operations ) Brit loads for Brit trucks,Brit jobs for Brit workers and 12 hours minimum daily rest as part of that.If not unlike the EU Commission,ECJ and the foreign MEP majority,we can vote them out of office. What’s not to like.
