Answer = no miles - you either park up for the night or, if you have not reached the point where you must take a daily rest, then you could swap with another driver who comes out to you in a vehicle under 3.5 tonnes as that driving is ‘other work’

and anyone having reached 15hrs before getting back isn`t going anywhere, not even in the passenger seat even if someone can come and drive his truck back.

Unless I have misunderstood the rules,(which wouldn’t be unusual) you would be allowed to exceed driving time if caused by unforseen circumstances etc.
eg diversion from normal route caused by RTA or similar.
Agree that there is no set limit, merely opportunity to get to safe stopping place
I do know of drivers who have parked up less than a mile from depot, but have always carried on myself and entered on tacho.

if it was a very on rare occasions i would say you have 15 minute to get back but only rarely not every week or ever day
