At the difference between 29.99 and 40.00■■?

Isn’t the new one gonna be all singing all dancing though?

Well apparently it’s got a download function on it so you can keep your own records on your PC or whatever AND it is compliant with the WTD rules. But as the WTD rules haven’t changed how many hours we do for a good majority of us it would seem from the comments made in this forum, then I still can’t see how the 133%[/b] price hike :open_mouth: is justified.
Whether drivers are daft enough to pay such an extortionate price - in my opinion - for the new version is another matter.
HOWEVER, THAT IS JUST MY OPINION.
It is, of course, very generous of the creator to donate 12 for the JfD cause though.

That £40 is only if you send back your old one. Off the shelf price is £70 :open_mouth: for the new version as detailed on another website which I am not permitted to link to I’m afraid.

Rob you always had a problem with the price, I honestly cant understand why though?

Firstly Tach Trak was selling at over £60 5 years ago and does not do a fraction of what the current New Hour Guard Does @ £29.99 or the New Hour Guard Does @ £69.99.

As you are obviously unaware of business let me take the time PUBLICLY to explain the price of the new timer.

The timer has had to be developed from scratch, this involves HUGE chunks of steel being made into injection moulds for the cases, these do not simply materialise out of nowhere, labour charges, machines costs and of course the plastic all costs money.

The Printed Circuit Boards do not mysteriously appear, they have to be designed by research and development engineers, who also have to be paid, of course their companies also try to make a profit.

The Software is written by a software programmer who has trained for years, the same as a UK programmer, they expect good wages, and when you consider 3 months writing a program that may need rewritten at least 4 or 5 times to perfect the program, this costs money.

The PCB’s then need the components which of course cost money, things like a quartz crystal, capacitors, then of course the Microprocessor and memory.

Then there is the LCD which again needs a tool made to manufacture it, to date It has cost me £40,000 to develope the new timer, and it’s still not finished.

Then there is packaging, and labour charges

Of course there is also the cost of the rechargeable battery and the charger lead, along with the USB Lead plus a CD Rom.

Now we have a working timer, which has to be imported into the UK, which coming from China costs approx £1,700 in shipping costs for 3000

Then there is Vat & Duty, which averages around £3,000

Now I have a fully paid up unit in the UK, I have staff wages to pay, I also have advertising to pay along with postage or distribution charges to pay, nothing is free.

Even with the current Hour Guard, end sellers such as Night Owl MAKE more profit than me on every timer they sell.

Yet it was me who risked my house by remorgaging to get the current timer on the market 3 years ago, There is a reason why a £30 discount is being given but obviously you cannot understand simple things like that.

In Capitol Enterprises Ltd there are 4 Shareholders, each one put in over £10,000 to get the timer on the market NONE have recieved any dividends from the company, and I am the biggest shareholder with 55 % and yet put in over £27,000 in total. Shareholders want to see a profit and so do I, so yes a higher profit margin has been set on the new timer, but existing customers are also getting a share of the benefits to the tune of £30.00

Now you go out and buy ANYTHING and go back 3 years later and see if they will give you a full refund when you put it in for part exchange for the latest model.

Where else do you get a guarantee where you phone and say you bought a timer 2 years ago and it has just got damaged, and hear the company tell you to return it and have it fixed or replaced free of charge?

You have NEVER purchased the item so you do not have the faintest idea of the service offered by Capitol Enterprises, and yet this is the 2nd time you have tried to degrade the product on a public website.

You stick to your £9.99 Big Time Timer, the amount of driving jobs you go through each year, you do not need anything more than that.

And YES you are beginning to [zb] me off because you are Clueless and I WILL defend the product and the price regardless of your opinion.

Davey,

As a satisfied customer of yours I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for bothering to go to the trouble of developing this device.

I regard it as a tool of my trade which enables me to manage my hours efficiently. As an O/D that means I can potentially earn more and keep legal. Were I an employed driver I would still consider the investment worthwhile in-so-far as that I would know that I was running within the law rather than hoping I was legal. Call it having a bit of pride in my work if you like. I shall be ordering a new model, when available, at the full price as I think its both worth it and I wish to offer support and encouragement to its creators.

Rob, Davey offers his product on the open market. No-one is obliged to purchase it, that decision lies entirely with you, the customer. If you don’t like either the product or the price, leave it. Manage your hours your own way but I don’t see how sharing your “opinion” adds to the constructive nature of this thread

I apologise Keelman/mods for taking this thread off topic somewhat but the nature of Robs posts moved me to rant :exclamation:

No Problem Lard. You’ve saved me doing it.

Rob K is well known for his errrrrrmmmm, abrasive style.

I have to say, that because of the Hour Guard, before I gave up driving where I am now,I hadn’t received one infringement from my employer.

In fact, there are several of our drivers who have expressed an interest in buying one, especially when they found out where I got mine, and what it’s capabilities were in relation to the TT.

And in my opinion, anything that helps drivers to keep on the right side of the law,is money well spent.

Ken.

At the end of the day, the donation ought to total around £240 for JFD. That’s now in danger of being forgotten. Nice one Davey .

davey

how will this help me as i am govened by domestic driving rules, no standard breaks ect as i can drive 10hrs a day

but as there was a company in liverpool fined not long ago for flaunting these laws

many thanks
