if im limited company and do work for driver hire, will i still have to pay the admin fees,as i worked for them before via paye and was charged each week for them to process the payment, but have now set up a ltd company and dont really want to pay fees for me invoicing them
If you’re having to ask this question then what are you doing being a director of a limited company? Stick to PAYE or umbrella where you belong.

Nothing like being helpful is there and that’s nothing like it!

Perfectly reasonable point whether he likes it or not. A company director should not be asking those questions and it simply proves that he’s not cut out to be running a business.

If you were a company director - which you claim to be - then why would you ask this question? Do you know how to run a company? You do realise as a company director that YOU set the terms, not other people?
Hello mate,
As a Ltd Company you shouldn’t be paying any kind of admin fee to invoice your client.
My advice would be go Ltd Company by all means but don’t stick with one client. Use the agency (not driver hire as they’re crap) to get you a bit of work initially but during your tax year make sure you use other directly sourced clients. Approach companies direct offering holiday cover / ad hoc work.
I use an agency now and again and help them out with short notice jobs but I have 2 or 3 local companies who use me regularly direct. That way you can have (a little bit) more control over your rate / terms but not a great deal. As we all know whether you’re an employed driver, freelance driver, owner driver or one of the big boys…the rates are (for the most part) dictated to us. Make sure you get an accountant as they will keep you on the straight and narrow and take away any worry regarding tax and tax efficiency.
Carl Usher is clearly an angry man who feels the need to have a pop at somebody just for doing the same job as every other driver, just in a different way. I don’t think he appreciates that you’re not trying to be Richard Branson, just trying to maximise you’re earnings and have some flexability in your working life. In short, he seems to be a bit of a prick, but obviously that’s just my opinion formed on the evidence he has provided.
Good luck
What’s all this getting at Carl he seems to be putting a reasonable point if you are running your own company then you should know these things, they should all be down in your T&Cs that you give to your clients before starting work.
