If you mean the periodic training, if you have grandfather rights you need to complete 35 hours training by 9th September 2013 for PSV drivers or 9th September 2014 for LGV drivers.

if you passed your car test before 1997 then you would have grandfather rights against the c1 category which would cover you for any upgrade i.e passing c ect or c+e

Acquired rights of CPC status to drivers who passed their car test before 1997 and automatically were given C1 (7.5t) on their licence.

Aquired/grandfather dcpc rights for LGV is for any driver who had ANY LGV category (C1 C CE etc) on their licence on 09/09/2009
One example might be a driver who passed car test in say 1999 and then C1 or C in 2002
