ROG:
I can see VOSA having mid sept to oct next year doing a check on PCV DQCs and then another for LGV the following year
It will be easy for them to do because not carrying that DQC is an offence and not having a DQC is yet another offence
They may go a little easy to start with by just giving a warning but I would not count on it
Barbara Bell has already been on record to say that there won’t be any sort of leniency, simply because the law says that as of Sept 2013 and Sept 2014 anyone driving the appropriate vehicles must have a DCPC card with them - it will be treated the same as not having a licence and the driver will be prohibited from proceeding any further and will be prosecuted - ‘simples’

Harry Monk:
Why will you have to carry the card with you? Don’t VOSA have a computer?
I intially thought it was daft as well until I considered this is an EU thing
For the rest of the EU it seems that driver must carry their driving licences and the dcpc is on that as a code number next to the LGV/PCV categories
The dopey UK has not yet caught up with virtually every other country where it is standard law to carry the driving licence and to then do the same as the rest of the EU which is to use the same code system instead of having a seperate card because of our archaic (spelling) driving licence law
Did my last seven hours on Saturday and to my surprise my card was through the door today I’d like to bet that come this time next year when all these people that think it going away suddenly realise it isn’t going away the sending out of the card is a much slower process due to volume lol

Yawn! If every driver said NO, then the country would come to a standstill! is vosa/ DfT or Beverley bell going to get every professional driver/ licence holder or steering wheel attendant redundant? I don’t think so!

It’s also the law here, however it is common practice to give 7 days grace to produce it.
I did mine with QTT qtt.org.uk they’re very good at what they do. Along with numerous other firms, they run them weekends. They’re based in the Midlands but must run courses all over the lace because I did mine Saturday mornings at Frome, Somerset.
