The company that i booked my lgv cat C test with(the broker), has asked me to pay for two blocks of cpc.He stated in this instance that i would not be able to go straight into work, because i need to do drivers cpc 2 times 7 hours before i would be eligable for work■■? is this right,?
All you need to do to start work is pass module 2 the theory part and module 4 the practical demonstration. I only had 1hour of tuition for my module 4 from my trainer, which was through a broker.
After this you recieve your DQC card and have 5 yrs to complete your 35 hours periodic training to retain your DQC.
I have however booked 14hours of driver cpc training to get up to speed on tachographs and drivers hours etc in detail from the professionals. Maybe this is what your broker is trying to get you to pay for, you do not need to do it and if you do the 14hours before passing your mod 2 & 4 it will NOT count as hours towards your periodic training.
I have passed Mod 2 & 4 so my 14hours goes towards my 35hours training in the next 5 years.
Hope this helps

Totally agree, can save a lot of money!
Thanks for the advice, encouragley taken. After i get through the ramble that im left to unfold for myself the facts based around module 2 and 4!

From the above posts it is not clear if you even need Mod 2 or 4. You will need them if you did not hold a 7.5t licence (cat C1) on 9th Sept 2009, the day CPC started for trucks.
If you do need them there are lots of previous threads about these 2 modules. Most people that have taken or taught the subjects would agree they are no big deal to pass so dont worry.

No dont you mean if you passed your car test before 1997 then you wont need the initial cpc

Same thing. Anyone passing a car test before 1997 will have the C1 (7.5 tonne) on their licence and so doesn’t need mod 2 and 4 (initial driver cpc).
The 14 hours (2 sessions) thing has come about because someone thinks that 1 module per year has to be completed. Given that the regs came into force 2 years ago that would mean 2 modules have to be done. But that’s all based on the misunderstanding about the rules to start with!
Everyone needs driver cpc to drive professionally. Anyone who passed their car test before 1997 has the C1 and so automatically holds driver cpc on grandfather rights until Sept 2014. But the 35 hours must be completed before Sept 2014 to maintain driver cpc. Theoretically this could be done the first week in Sept 2014. No need to do anything beforehand although it would be interesting to see if there’s any chance of getting it done at the last minute - and at what cost.
Anyone intending to drive professionally after Sept 2014 should be seeing to their driver cpc now. This will save loads of money, stress and hassle. There’s nothing lost by doing it early. The Driver Qualification Card will run till Sept 2019.
Hope this helps.

As Peter has replied they are almost the same but not quite.
For example if somebody passed their car test after 01/01/97 say in 2000 and then went on to take the C1 (7.5t) in say 2005 they would still have the CPC acquired rights when it came into force in 2009.
because we have had people in this position we now state the C1 requirement on 09/09/09 rather than the car test rule from 97.
