nope, you could sit at back of class with you ipod feet on the desk reading the latest copy of T&D and repeat the same course 5 times and still pass - allthough you wouldnt learn anything despite paying for it

I have heard rumors that is to change though with a written exam at the end…

That would require EU legislation - sounds like just an unfounded rumour to me probably from someone like me who thinks that would be the sensible thing to do.

“you are the weakest driver, GOOD BYE”

THIS IS RELEVANT

I’m 60 in August 2014, and as an agency driver I would have to cough up the estimated £1500 inc VAT myself. I foresee a lot of drivers saying stuff it, probably just at a time when we’ll be back into the next boom. Hey presto, instant driver shortage :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Where does the estimate of £1500 come from? There is already one provider offering courses at £40 + vat + upload fee of £8.75 for the annual 7 hours.

That is for a block booking of at least 100 (one hundred) drivers with the maximum class size in each group.

you must remember that the charge of the course depends on the number of candidates on that course

I.E if you have 16 on the course then £40 per is possible but if the course is some think special that you company requires then it could be some sort of driver training and you may be limited to the number of students the lowest is 1 and the max 20 per class

Even at that price that would still cost me £278 + a weeks wages. I have yet to see what the point of this is other than to make more money for the government.

test would mean fail - which would mean people could not work - which mean people could not pay tax - the government aren’t that dumb  :grimacing:

i think you find that the ones that make the money will be the provides of the course

lets say that

16 students take the course for five days

and it costs 50 per driver per day

50 X 16 x 5= £ 4000

the trainer pays only £36 per hour

36x7x5 £1260

and on top of that you have vat and upload fees

£278 + say £500 for a weeks wages taken over 5 years is only £2.99 per week - not worth getting upset about, and the only money the government gets is the upload fees of £1.25 per hour of course, i.e. £8.75 per year!

The upload fee also includes the DQC fee.

thank christ my company is paying for the lot - that’s a big expense to your average joe

i wonder if the cost’s incurred are tax deductible due to it being for your work :open_mouth:

Getting back on topic, this is in my opinion what makes the Driver CPC a complete joke, you have to attend but don’t have to show that you’ve taken any notice of anything during the training :unamused:
