Driver CPC Question

I passed my car(b) test in August 1998 and then LGV c & c+e in 2001 so have aquired driver cpc till Sept 2014.

If I was to take Pcv D would I need to do all 4 modules?
And if I do I assume I would then be issued a Driver Cpc card what would the expiry date be? If I pass Pcv D in Feb 2012 would it expire Feb 2017 or Sept 2019■■?

Thanks
Graeme

I’ve just asked a similar question…

I only got round to passing my PCV last year but never got the CPC for it, im getting mixed responses whether I need to take the PCV CPC or just ‘get it converted’

Need to do all initial modules for pcv cpc as your hgv on is acquired rights, your cpc card will be issued showing lgv as 2014 and psv as 5 years from pass date , these dates will then fall into line when you do your 35 hours. So if you wanted to keep your hgv cpc you would still need to do 35 hours by the 2014 deadline.

You will need to do all 4 of the PCV initial dcpc modules in order to drive PCVs commercially

DQC (driver cpc card)
As you have LGV dcpc aquired rights then DQC expiry dates for periodic dcpc will happen like this -
I have made up the dates and the periodic hours already done

Completed 21 hours of periodic LGV dcpc so far - these will also count for PCV
Pass the last of the PCV initial modules on 03/02/2012
DQC gets issued automatically with expiry dates … LGV 09/09/2014 & PCV 02/02/2017
Complete the other 14 hours of periodic dcpc (LGV or PCV) at any time before 09/09/2014 and a new DQC is automatically issued
The expiry dates for both LGV & PCV on the new DQC will be 02/02/2022
The next lot of 35 hours will need to be done from 03/02/2017 to 02/02/2022

If you already have a DQC expiry dated 09/09/2019 for LGV then after passing the last of the PCV initial modules (before 09/09/2014) you will get a new DQC issued automatically
The expiry dates for both LGV & PCV on the new DQC will be 02/02/2022
The next lot of 35 hours will need to be done from 03/02/2017 to 02/02/2022

This is how the DSA are currently tackling this issue but they have changed it three times so far to get to this point
The DSA do not want drivers to continue to have 2 different expiry dates on the DQC if they hold both LGV & PCV categories so they have designed this plan to align them ASAP

Interesting senario -
If you leave passing all PCV modules until say 30th August 2014 and complete all 35 periodic hours by 09/09/2014 then the DQC will have expiry dates for both LGV & PCV dated 29/08/2024
That means the next lot of 35 hours will need to be done between 30/08/2019 and 29/08/2024
That gives you almost 5 years FREE
