Does anybody know, would/can this part of the test (Part 3 is the actual driving test) be done straight after you’ve passed your practical?
Seems a lot of ■■■■ that needs booking separately can just be done on the same day
Thanks!

You’ll need to pass mod 2 before you can book mod 4.

What is that… the theory/case study stuff I presume or…?
If so then yeah I thought that was the case.
Do you know if the ‘practical demonstration’ can be done after you’ve passed your test/on the same day? or before?
Just want to try and do everything (possible) on the same day to save doubling up on trips to test centres, time off work etc
Both practicals tests can be done in either order (Part 3 and 4), but… you won’t be able to book either of them until you have passed the theory tests (Part 1 and 2).
You could do either 1 and 3 before 2 and 4, or vise versa.
But unfortunately you cannot speed up this process. I know it ■■■■■, you want to get it all done ASAP, but that’s just how it is.
Nobody really explains that it’s going to be 3-6 months before you’re all done and ready to start looking for work.
Part 1: Theory + Hazard Test
Part 2: CPC Case Studies
Part 3: Practical Training + Driving Test
Part 4: CPC practical Test
You can do Parts 1 + 2 on the same day
You can do parts 3 + 4 on the same day but only after you’ve done parts 1 and 2. Unless the rules have changed… I did both of mine on the same day at PSTT anyway.

Yeah that’s what my understanding is… it could be a bit clearer! The structure, or lack of, seems a bit ■■■■!
Also… I want to do my class 2 and then class 1… would I have to do the part 4 twice!? for both licences? I would hope not but it wouldn’t surprise me
No you only need to do module 4 once!

Nice one… thanks for the info
I’m pretty certain it’s still the same process. You mind me asking how long you’ve had your licence and which class(es)?

Have asked above too anyway.
Thanks again
A - You can pass theory mod 2 then do practical mod 4
B - you can pass theory mods 1a + 1b then do practical mod 3
C - You can do A & B above in any order
Alternative -
Pass Theory mods 1a + 1b + 2 on same day (any order) then do practical mods 3 & 4 (in any order)
DQC will not be issued until both mods 3 & 4 are passed

Thanks mate… much appreciated!!
Theory test passes cover all LGV categories

If you talk to your driver training school it is theoretically possible to do all 4 tests in just over a week. but the stress of having to do the theory work, learn to drive the truck then sweat your way through the practical tests you’ll most likely fail at least one of them

Had my Cat C (Class2) licence since 28th April 2016. Passed first time with PSTT in an Auto truck. Since then I’ve spent more time driving manuals.
Once you’ve taken and passed your part 2 + 4 (+3) you automatically get your drivers qualification (CPC) card which will last you 5 years. If you’re looking to do your Class 1 soon after, depending on the trainer you go to, those hours for Class 1 training can go towards your CPC for the next 5 year period (you need 35 hours total every 5 years) Not all trainers are able to credit you the Class 1 training hours for CPC hours… Depending on the type, ADR training can count as 28 hours or something from memory, which can go towards CPC hours too, if your trainer is able to credit you those hours. - meaning you’re sorted on CPC training for 10 years and didn’t have to get stuck in a boring classroom listening to someone who’s never driven a truck tell you how to drive But I wouldn’t worry about ADR etc as a new driver as most ADR jobs require you to have experience…

Cheers Ben!
To be honest the theory test and hazard perception should be easy as i’ve done probably 90% of it to get my car licence!! I totally agree you need to know tacho regs, vehicle dimensions, signs targeted specifically at HGV’s etc… but why do I need to explain that I know to check my mirrors and indicate when overtaking and before returning to the left lane… I know how to drive And from what I can see the hazard perception is EXACTLY the same (I may be wrong) as the one you take to get your car licence… so why waste my time!? Suppose thats’s a bit besides the point though!
Just want to get it all done ASAP but yeah you’re right too in that its probably best not to overload myself! Decisions decisions

Thanks a lot for the help!
I knew the CPC had to be renewed every 5 years… but didn’t realise there were all these clauses!!
I may do mod 4 before I take my test (maybe - just an idea) that way I can, in theory, look for work as soon as i pass my test as opposed to waiting to pass mod 4 before I can drive.
Is there much to it from what you remember… the mod 4?
Thanks again
2017 Mod 4 video and Qs link contained within the link in my signature below
Regarding the HPT - A few years ago the DSA, now DVSA, top brass stated that it is not fit for purpose but we still have it as it makes money
The same clips are used for the car LGV & PCV HPT but a higher score is required for the LGV & PCV

I refuse to believe a governing body would keep something not fit for purpose, JUST to make money If only.
The HPT is a good idea, poorly executed. I passed the theory and failed my HPT on my car (my fault really, didnt do enough research into how it works) but not due to not seeing hazards… I saw and clicked them EARLIER than when it was deemed a hazard, so probably got 0 points on some clips even though I saw the ‘hazard’ a mile off and clicked in plenty of time. Lesson learned. Now I will just click, click again, and click one more time just to make sure it registers the [zb]! Passed 2nd time with no issues.
The thing i’m most worried about (of sorts) is the case studies mod, and the final mod 4 (practical demonstration)… but hopefully with the right help/tutoring I should be ok!
This thread demonstrates the difference between trainers as well. If anyone was to speak to one of the better trainers, all this would be explained, all the options explored and everything sorted for the candidate. It’s called customer service.
Yes, you may save a fiver by doing it all yourself - - but read the thread and decide if the stress is worth the money you may or may not save!
Pete
Don’t worry about the case studies, all the answers to the question are in the story. The rest is common sense. I had one asking which of the following would be a healthy meal, the case study was about a trucker called Stuart I believe who was described as a bit overweight
