Driver cpc national or international

Hi anyone tell me the difference in modules for UK national CPC and EU CPC for driving abroad I need to do 35 hrs so might as well do international driving one ?

Feel free for anybody to correct me if I’m wrong… the UK have started allowing cpc courses to be done in two sittings, 3.5 hours one day, 3.5 the next. The EU have decided they don’t like that idea, so unless you do the full 7 hour course in one go, they won’t recognise the cpc. So as long as you do the 35 hours “the old fashioned way” you’ll always have an international cpc. Do it the new way, and it’ll only be valid for UK work.

Why would you upset most of your day to do a half course
Regardless it seems quicker and less painful to do it the old way
Is it cheaper or the same price

From what I hear, it’s mostly courses that are run by an employer themself. They’ve had a little cry to the government that they can’t turn a profit if they can’t flog a driver for at least an 11 hour day, so they’ve let them split it into two. Basically, they can send you out on a run and have you in front of the powerpoint by lunchtime. Best of both worlds, apparently. My lot have tried it, and failed miserably. Drivers just “got held up on site” and didn’t sit the course.

That would explain it

I did some of my CPC courses over 2 days from 6 pm untill 9 30 or so with a 20 min break.
Via enterprise Found it better than sitting at a pc from 8 untill 4 .
But each to there own

Totally agree, everybody has their preferences. The OP wanted to know the difference between national and international. It’s now identified on the government driver dashboard. I prefer neither, but we don’t make the rules. Just get stuck with the fines later on if we break them.

Thanks everyone for all the replies I will do old way then just wanted to be sure

Hopefully this answers your question. In December 2024, the UK introduced a major shift in Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) policy, formally splitting the framework into two distinct categories: National CPC and International CPC. Though both require drivers to complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years, the content, recognition, and purpose of each path differ significantly. For drivers, fleet operators, and transport managers, choosing the right CPC pathway is now critical to compliance, efficiency, and long-term career planning.
