Driver CPC module 2 and 4

Right as we know there is the Initial driver cpc coming in to force in Sept my question is

When a new driver takes a C test and passes, when the driver upgrades to a C+E would he/she have to do the case studies and the practical once again and would there also have to take HPT again cos as we know the are different vehicles

and also lets say a driver as his C now and then wants to upgrade to C+E in Sept would there have to do all of the modules

and as we know that the case studies will be held at the same place as the theory test and HPT test how would you prepare for it as at the moment i can not see any books on the case studies, cos i know when i did my theory i had to do it off my own back and did not do any training just a lot of reading

this bit is with regard the 18 years old post by ROG

if a 18 years old takes and passes a C and then C+E and therefore have a Driver CPC how can he be more qualified as a driver that as had 20 years on the road experience

the point of the Driver CPC IMHO it to make us drivers more professional so how can a driver of 18 who as never been on the road be classed as professional under the driver CPC

and would employer take on a new driver with a Driver cpc under he/hers belt over a driver with on road experience

I have no idea where the case studies reading material is unless they have been included in the new LGV THEORY book…

Depends if the employer wants to employ a driver by seeing bits of paper or by their experience - I know which I would choose - EXPERIENCE

Hi Rog

your answer to my second question

if that is right that would mean that if a driver with C1 on there licence would not have to take the case studies module 2 and the off road practical test module 4 if there were up grading to a C and if than to a C+E, as there have acquired rights

the IDCPC would there for only be for drivers that have not got any vocational licences on there licence

the reason i ask that question was that i thought that if you don’t do the cpc part at the test you would not be able to work for a living as a driver in that class of vehicle I.E you have a C and there for acquired rights, say in Oct you took a test for C+E as this in the eye of the law is a different licence and did not take the IDCPC 2 and 4 that would mean you would not be able to drive a C+E truck for a living

The DSA publication ‘Driver CPC the official guide for professional goods vehicle drivers’ is now available- ISBN 978-0-11-553001-2 .

In it is a section on the case study - in fact it is the largest section covering 37 pages of an 81 page booklet. AFAIK thats the only info on the case study avaialble at present.

A snip at £9.99.
