Driver card error 50, any ideas what it means? Card does work after a couple of goes.

I think it means the chip is damaged , usually a wipe does the trick

Yeah, I normally wipe it for another go. Strangely enough, some units are worse than others for throwing up an error.
Error 50 means the tachograph cannot read/write to the driver card, as has been said cleaning the chip with a clean soft cloth will often fix the problem, if that doesn’t fix the problem try the card in another vehicle to see if it’s the card that’s faulty or the VU.
It means your a bell end because you are provoking an argument by stating it can’t be argued on!
If cleaning the chip doesn’t work it’s most likely a new card time. Mine had split around the chip and could almost be popped out due to keeping it in my wallet. Every now and then it would throw that error code, eventually had to send off for a replacement.
It means you’ve put your card in the wrong way round. [emoji851]
