Driver awarenes course

been done for speeding 37 in 30 zone whats the score on the course

Feds 1, Tippertom 0. That’s the score.

Seriously though the courses are surprisingly entertaining and informative, usually around 5 ish hours long, refreshments provided.

Never done one myself but I’m reliably informed that you have to “participate” during these things, unlike DCPC. AFAIC “participating” is nodding when appropriate, and keeping awake.
:wink:

Blimey, have you been lost?

I think the speed awareness and driver awareness courses are different

speed = classroom
Awareness = out on the road

could be wrong …

I think they’re both classroom bases courses but the content is different.

Driver improvement course here is the on road one

Speed Awareness, Driver Awareness, Driver Improvement, Driver Alertness - They are all similar in the course content and presentation (although Speed awareness ones naturally major on speed). Some of them are part of a National scheme, so wherever you get caught in England & Wales you can choose to take your course at a more convenient (for you) location. They are usually classroom based, but the trainers generally do a reasonable job of getting everyone involved. If you don’t take part (e.g. you sit at the back and don’t get involved in any discussions or activities) the trainers can refer you back for prosecution instead.

But not all police forces take part in the national schemes, so e.g. if you get caught in Hampshire or Dorset, you have to take the course there. If you get caught in Scotland, there is no option of going on a course, and if you live in Scotland you’ll have to travel South of the border to take your course.

Look on it as an opportunity to educate a few car drivers about the problems of driving a big truck.
