Driver assist, first aiders

driver assist would like to see HGV drivers become qualified first aiders because of times when drivers are the first on the scene of an accident, while an excellent idea what would happen if you did do something wrong and caused the accident victim to become paralysed which could happen and you and the company you work for[maybe] could open yourselves to all sorts of compensation claims,if that were the case i would need some kind of exemption from prosecution, worth thinking about

If you become a member of driver assist you get indemnity insurance

Here’s a thread about it, from yesterday viewtopic.php?f=2&t=101633

Have just done my first Aid course and asked the same question and his reply is that there is a law which states you cannot be prosecuted for helping someone in an accident. Can’t remember what is called but that was from a trained paramedic

Im a trainee lives responder for my community i think its a good idea

In British law a ‘good samaritan’ cannot be sued for negligence. No such case has ever succeeded, and I can’t recall one that’s come to court.

Even people employed as company first aiders do not owe a ‘duty of care’ to anyone they may help.

Providing you are acting in good faith, you are safe.

The only way in which you could lay yourself open to action would be if it could be proved that you’d deliberately caused some kind of incident in which you could then act the hero (which does happen from time to time).

looked on their site for something near me, not a lot showing, i’m going to have a word at work next week see if we can do something through the company.
I’ve meant to do something about this for too many years but let it slip, may as well get something useful out of this bureaucratic bulldung that is the DCPC!

As a trained NWAS first responder and a heartstart instructor.the fisrt aid module in the driver cpc should be compulsary as it means every truck/coach driver in eu has basic first aid training. or as i say in my training spiel . in the case of cardiac arrest you can.t make em any deader.b
