Me just having a silly thought
When DRIFT is fully open, there will be 300-500 ish loading/unloading bays, if not more. I don’t think the RDCs will be open 08.00-17.00, so they will be 24/7. Where will all the trucks come from to fill all the bays/time slots. and where will all the drivers come from to drive them?
I think…
It’s known as DIRFT.
With a little imagination they could have called it Daventry Rail International Freight Terminal.
I prefer Freight And Rail Terminal myself. It’s much snappier and easier to remember.

What’s your point? There’s no driver shortage just a shortage of good jobs as ever.
I don’t have a point to make. I never have said that there is a “driver shortage”. I was thinking , silly me, How are they going to fill all the bays.
They won’t have to fill all of the bays; 35% will be broken and as for the rest they’ll have one person inloading and one person outloading.

Rather strangely, it’s spelled “DIRFT” but pronounced “DRIFT”

Fair enough so your point is pointless then

I read in this weeks Northampton local paper plans to build 217 houses on one site, and 900 houses on another (next to J15 between Grange Park and Quinton). I imagine a lot of lorry drivers might be amongst the people living in them.
