My friends son worked in the for Mercedes based at the same place in Brackley, did his apprenticeship through them as a race car mechanic and has now left to join Honda…

I have known several friends who work or have worked for the team based at Brackley, they treat all employees great. What I don’t understand is why you posted this ? You should keep it to yourself and apply.

Those who know anything about working for a top flight motorsports team . . . Are able to name their favourite airport waiting lounge

Pat, I am a lot of thing’s, some of them unrepeatable, but a mechanic I am not, I have only a vague idea how an engine works, and what’s more I do not have the slightest interest either, if a truck or car I am driving refuses to go, I get on the phone and send for a greasy little man in a flat hat to come along and hit it with hammers or, whatever they do, till it goes again, of course I do the basics oil, water, lights etc, unless the people I worked for were knob’s then I did not bother, if it ran out of oil tough, and anyway I retired nearly two years ago now, something the trucking industry probably breathed a sigh of relief over, I was never in it because I was a Tarmac Junkie or cab happy, I was in it only for money to pay the rent nothing more, I did two nights out in 30 years and then only because I could not avoid them, I am 64 next month and my licences all start to run out soon, and as I never intend to get in a truck again it does not matter, I admire the blokes on here who work the hours they do, and staying in cab’s all week so if I see what look like decent jobs I post them. here’s another.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £155.00 to £228.00 /week

Qualifications and Skills

C+E licence

DCPC

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: £155.00 to £228.00 /week

I am assured that is a typo about the wages and it is £155.0 to 228.0 PER DAY…worth a look anyway.

I actually walked into Treasures transport office about 8 years ago to enquire about a job with them, after being studiously ignored for a few minutes one of them deigned to lift his head and bark at me “what do you want?”. My response was “to ram a screwdriver through your eye you fat ignorant Wayne Kerr” before turning around and walking out.

Now perhaps I caught them on a bad day, perhaps that was normal, I have no idea. I just know that I would not consider them if they were the last company on Earth.

I worked in the industry before moving here, not for an F1 team but I drove around pulling a hospitality unit mostly for Ford and Jaguar, I worked with a lot of F1 teams and personally got to know many in the industry, I would play pool with Eddie Jordan in The Bull in Towcester before his team went from Formula Ford / 3 to F1, I asked him once “EJ, give me a job driving a transporter ?”
“No chance Pat, we are friends and if I employ you or any other friend one day we will have a disagreement and I will sack you, end of friendship”
Working with an F1 team is dam hard work as you can see when you watch those guys change wheels in a pit stop, it’s a great life but you have to be prepared for some hard ■■■■, I also had an acquaintance with Ron Dennis and he could be a nasty piece of work. One day you have a dream job and the next you are unemployed.

Or you could do both

^^^^^

I might well have spotted you at some point as I did F1 in Hungary, Belgium and Italy this year

Not part of a F1 team though, just moving and building this:

We do OK

I found with F1 it’s plenty of waiting around mixed with racing about when it’s one weekend after another. This year they had the calendar bolloxed by Austria > Silverstone as we needed to swap drivers at Dover. Belgium to Italy was fun as well as we needed the bar in Monza for midday Tuesday so it was a manic Sunday after the race to get it down the road ASAP.

Should be fun next year as they have added the French and German GP’s so I think its nine in total im going to next year.
