SCANIA R143 TOPLINER 6x2 -87 whit 3 axle drawbar 48tonnes tippercombination buld scratch in scale 1/78
and it,s build in 87 too ,cheers benkku
SCANIA VABIS L 76 S 42 &# whit bege sleepercab ,stright from work,cheers benkku
so lets think,87 when my model scania and drawbar was new 6 axles allowed 48 tn gross 22/26 ,but 90 the new weights came 3axle lorry 25 3axle drawbar short boggi 28 spread 30 tn and 4axle 1+3 34 2+2 36 tonnes ,what to do a almost new combination but out oh so out. lowest cost modificaion was to put an axle front of the backaxles on the drawbar and rise the sides of it for more volume, cheers benkku,ps it,s fact now we have legaly 76 gross on 9 axles from first of october
,same problems again
hey Benkuu, we had the same in the '80’s but from 38 to 44,3 axle trailers became a must for homeland too. But the weight shift on the tractive unit made it more worse. Most tractors couldn’t be uprated,to light front axle and the 13 tonnes driveaxle lost 1 tonne.
At 38 tonnes it was 6.5t 13t twice 10t what gave 39.5 total so you had a margin, but for a drawbar was 40 t allowed at the same axle weights.
So for a half a tonne you needed 5 axles, but on 5 you lost more payload at 40t as with 4 on 39.5. Clever rules isn’t it.
Then 44 on 5 axles 7.5t 12 and 3x8 or 9t. At the same time the 4 axle became 39 gross but only with the 9t single tyre which was allowed to 10 tonnes on a 2 axle trailer. Still a very clever rule.
Old 3 axle trailers of before '83 had the same gross as 2 axle 32tons,but couldn’t be uprated not allowed because of axle spread.
Once you think the truck begins to make good money for you it becomes outdated, and you can start again from nothing because of worthless old units.
We only can dream of 70 gross tonnes and if it was so the rates wouldn’t be satisfy.
Cheers Eric,
jep this is the configuration ,or 5 axle on truck and 4 on the drawbar , always doubledrive ,only three axels whit singletyres.and min 596 hp ,is the regulation and 4,4m high to

Quite simply bma. you the hardest working member on Trucknet, without a doubt Your drawings are very professional in all respects and are a credit to you
I wasn’t aware that when “old”(well not very old) Vikings retired from roaming the seas “■■■■■■ and pillaging” they needed phycological help
But then again if it wasn’t for the Vikings we wouldn’t have half as many TNUK members from the North East of England as we do
Keep on posting the good drawings bma. they are excellent
Cheers Dennis.
