All our DQC cards when through the photocopier today.
Somewhat unsuprisingly, there was still a couple of drivers that turned up and didn’t have theirs on them. (A quick home visit for them).

please enlighten me, I’m all ears (including other body parts of course).

A driver who passed initial modules in april 2014 then did 35 hours with the last 7 hours done in july 2014 will have a DQC expiry dated july 2024

I am having a change of pace on containers for a couple of weeks. Inevitably I al flying straight into the wasps nest (docks) but they always seem to leave before I get there.

Oddly, the client hasn’t checked anything this week even though its well over a year since I was last here. I have everything I need but you would think they would check anyway, especially to ensure I am carrying my documents

as ROG has said I passed my class 2 in 2012 and got my dcpc mod 2 and 4. since then I have done the 35 hours classroom stuff (3 days in a class room plus 14 hours I used when I passed my class 1 = 35 hours ) so they sent me a new card with a expiry date 2022

why do we need so many threads about this? Can one of the mods combine them all please?

We need a DCPC forum IMO

Agree

It would be nice to bump everything in to a “DCPC everything you need to know” thread. Has it already changed its name to DQC now?

It’s been a year since coaches have had to hold the cpc and you dont hear them gripe about being stopped by vosa or see them pulled over by vosa whilst out on the field.

Your cpc card can’t be linked to your vehicle so it would just have to be random checks. And when they “randomly” pull you in it isn’t random at all.

I got tugged a year or so ago, and when I asked him why he’d stopped me he replied “purely random check, drive”. Then whilst using the toilet at the vosa facility all I could hear was “[reg plate] looks a bit heavy, pull him in … xxyyy going a bit slow up that hill, give him a tug” … I only got stopped cos I was going up a hill on the M4 in Wales (Country of hills and valleys) at 40 mph. Not cos I was overloaded, but cos the lorry I was driving was 15 years old with about as much BHP as a Sinclair C5!

Now the CPC date has come and passed I can’t believe we’ve all been duped. Everything we learnt over those 35 or so hours was just common sense. ■■■■ it, I want to see the same 5 yearly training for checkout staff and call centre opperatives and coffee shop baristas and especially local government employees.

Good Grief

DCPC = Driver Certificate of Professional Competence
DQC = Driver Qualification Card

So the difference is a wallet sized piece of plastic that cost 35 hours?

DVSA pull vehicles for a variety of reasons…the main one being if the operator has a ‘red’ OCRS.

But they will also stop a truck if the ANPR finds its not taxed, or doesn’t show on the insurance database.

Or if it just looks old, or over/badly loaded or ill-maintained.

Or it triggers one of the axle weighers implanted in the motorway (they do exist).

Or its foreign…if they’ve been tasked with checking foreign trucks that day.

Or sometimes they just pull trucks at random to keep themselves busy.

I got pulled into the VOSA station just off the M4 near bath several years ago. There is a weight trigger plate on the A46. I was 300kg overweight in a 3.5t Luton. :open_mouth:
Genuine mistake and they were reasonably sensible about it.

I never believed the rumour of the pressure plates, but they exist!

Yes, they are real, and reasonably accurate, although they have to pull you in after and weigh you properly for a prosecution.

Youngest is off over the water to the mainland tomorrow so be interesting to see if he encounters any kind of check.

How’d he get on, have you heard? I’m in Dover now heading out.

As for these islands, not a whisper. Certainly haven’t been pulled

Am I right in thinking that if you are caught without it on you it is an offence, surely there is a database to check who has and who has not got the…errrr qualification :unamused: , otherwise the only reason I can think of for this is yet another excuse to do you, so even more revenue raised from the wonderful dcpc. :imp:

He has been and come back again without a single check. He left very, very early this morning to get to Hamburg for lunchtime today but that’s in a 3.5t so I don’t expect he will get checked for it.

Drove 7 hours from Calais before parking up, and not a dicky bird. We shall see again tomorrow.
