Downton Driver Causing Chaos

I am sure Downton as a whole employ mainly decent drivers, but the one I saw this morning who in my opinion was a complete knob,
Jct24, M1 southbound queuing for an accident just before Jct23ish, traffic starts moving after being held for about 5 minutes, lane1 closed
but lane 2,3 & 4 is open, Downton idiot in lane 3 decides he will go to the outside lane without a care in the world for the car driver that he
has forced to brake hard to avoid contact with the rear axle of his trailer, he obviously does not know where the rear of his trailer is or
just doesn’t care, several hundred yards down the motorway he barely indicates and then forces himself back into lane 3 & immediately
does the same thing into lane 2 and just misses taking the cab of a MAN low loader who I think was quite surprised by the move, as this
made him brake hard and cause everything behind to brake, Just to clarify I don’t think the low loader driver done anything wrong, how do some
of these class 1 car drivers keep their jobs.

Hi Dave hes probably a class 1 licence holder not a class 1 driver

Ironically the default rule is now effectively give way to lane changing traffic and entering from a slip road or a roundabout.Feel free to adhere to the ‘proper’ rules in that regard but be prepared for a lot of aggro and form filling. :open_mouth:

They say they have a super duper training scheme if you listen to there bull shine and also have won an award for bringing young apprentice drivers in to the industry but the truth is no experienced driver wants to work there so it’s downtons way of recruiting drivers.
I worked there for a while and never in all my time have I had a firm try and push me as much as them, certain things swept under the carpet too,
Only positive was well maintained trucks

Sounds like another car driver who’s managed to get himself a class 1 category on his licence, and thinks he can use the size of his vehicle to be a bully.

More likely an incompetent EE muppet as are most of them

Whilst that’s perfectly possible, muppets can come from any nationality… we even have our very own UK muppets!!

You know at first I thought it was crazy that some supermarkets limit their trucks to 50mph. But now after driving these underpowered pieces of ■■■■■ I understand it.

You lose all motivation to keep pedal to the metal. You relax more you dont care if someone is doing 56.86mph while you are rapidly gaining on him because your capable of doing 56.91mph but the fudger has more weight so every hill he increases the distance just as your about to overtake him and it drives you nuts!!! CAUSE SETTING YOUR CC to 56 or 55 is not an option!!

Also I have done trunk runs and I have seen the amount of time they give you to get a run done. If you stop for a ■■■■ or a coffee even if it only takes 5 mins you are behind. It is crazy.

See those times on the paper? I dont give a ■■■■ about them. As long as its not ripping the ■■■■, im stopping if I want to and if the trailer is late back then tough. Im not running myself to a stress enduced heart attack for anyone, no matter how much they go on about how critical it is the load is back by X time. If its back, its back. If its not, its not. If me stopping for a ■■■■ and cup of tea for 10 minutes is that big of a problem for the schedule then maybe the problem isnt me but the actual schedule

Well there’s at least two of us with the right attitude.

Abso ■■■■ lutely!
The world ain’t gonna end if whoever don’t get their whatever on time, it’s the fault of ‘‘planners’’ for planning a too tight schedule, and if you’re stupid enough to attempt to achieve it by going like a ■■■■ idiot, then they keep setting those schedules.
Too many yes men and heroes in the job, if they had a more professional attitude like you say, the job would not be such an endurance exercise for the spineless. :bulb:
The results?..d/heads like that Downton driver, who’s ■■■■ poor attitude and approach to the job runs off on the rest of us in terms of public perception.

My usual comment when someone had a go about being late: “It’s only ■■■ boxes.” If I was carrying kidneys or hearts for transplant then okay - otherwise, it gets there when it gets there.
