Double towing

I used the search engine and cant find any real info on whether or not this is permitted
When I say double towing I mean towing 2 trailers with one car or van. That the trailer you are towing has a trailer on behind it

Any insight to this one please?
Thanks

AFAIR, it’s only for fairground vehicle and 2nd trailer must be either living caravan or water bowser.

As long as the overwiidth trailer is not the last trailer, you’ll be alright.

I once saw a car towing a caravan with a small camping trailer behind that, did wonder how far he got before attracting the attention of the constabulary.

Looks like 1 trailer unless you’re a recovery vehicle and towing a car & its trailer.

I really am so confused after reading the artical

The exception to this rule is that such a vehicle may draw two trailers in situations where one of the trailers is a towing implement and part of the other is secured to and rests on or is suspended from that implement.

As Trev has said, mostly two trailers is recovery towing a motor-vehicle that is towing a trailer.

The short answer you want is you can’t do it. Move on.

Imagine a ballasted tractor unit towing a converter dolly on a Ringfeder coupling, the dolly has a Fifth wheel attached coupled to a standard Semi Trailer.

Commonly used in Teesside and between railheads

That exemption is for trailed spectacle lifts or tow-boy cranes where it’s towed by one vehicle and has another suspended from it. Nothing to do with what you’re asking about.

So it looks like I am either going to have to mount the 2 items on one trailer or have 2 vehicles then

This was my Casita folding caravan. It came to me from friends in The Netherlands. They took it all around Europe.

The towing electrics worked okay at the back, but I never hooked anything up.
