Long story short last night one of our trucks broke down. Today I have that driver with me in the passenger seat to help with the extra drops.
I started at 5 he started at 6. I was told by one of our guys that my passenger can’t do any driving as we started at different times. Is this correct or are we still able to share the driving?
That used to be the case some years back that both crew members had to be present, but now the first hour can be completed by one driver without the second driver being present and both can then drive.

Incorrect - you can both drive under MM rules
Every time when card in slot 2 the first 45 mins or part thereof of POA is counted as break

Lovely stuff. Cheers mate. I will look more into it we don’t normally have to double man so unsure on the rules

Does this mean if driver 1 picks up driver 2 over an hour later then single manning regs apply and drivers cannot take breaks in moving vehicle?

1 hour ok but more than 1 hour = not ok for MM
The hour difference refers to shift start times not the time they meet so they must start shift within 1 hours of each other AND be together no later than 1 hour from start of shift times

Drivers can take breaks in a moving vehicle regardless of whether or not they’re multi-manning.
Of course there does have to be a driver at the wheel though
