If you are not on board after the 1st hour or the 1st drivers duty am i right in saying that the rules remain the same as normal but if your on board within the 1st hour of duty of the 1st driver starting you can amply double manning rules hope that makes sense thxs in advance

MM rules apply when both drivers are together within the first hour of duty
cheers rog so id picked up after an hour its business as usual thxs
What happens if driver 1 and driver 2 start at the same time but then driver 2 falls ill and get replaced
after 2 hours .firm sends another driver. Is driver 1 still on double manning hours or back to single hours.
It happened to me couple of weeks ago i did 17 hours driver 3 did 16 hours.
The second driver can be replaced. So driver 2 falls ill and another driver joins. MM rules still apply to this journey, but obviously driver 1’s daily rest will be required before the 2nd man and driver 1 will need to either leave the vehicle for his rest or the vehicle will need to stop for him to take his rest in it.
In theory the new driver 2 can carry on using the MM rules depending on his previous duties. So driver 1 goes to bed but driver 2 carries on working until his rest is due

Thank you
This could happen - using one vehicle
Driver 1 starts at 6am
Driver 2 starts at 6am
Vehicle returns to base at 7pm
Driver 2 goes home
Driver 3 starts at 7pm
Drivers 1 +3 return to base at 3am
Driver 3 goes solo until returning to base at 8am
Driver 1 is on MM rules
Drivers 2 and 3 are on single rules
why on earth do they make all this so complicated all we need is drivers hours with a six hour limit to duty before needing a break WTD is farce which needs ditching for instance driving regs say 3 15 and 2 13s is ok but wtd says 60 hours a week

Plus another 13 if you are doing 6 days
2 years ago I was doing 57 - 75 hour weeks while the client ironed out the wrinkles on a new contract. Needless to say we milked it until they caught up and moved our start time back to reduce our waiting time
thing is if you have a job which is hours heavy its encouraging you to manipulate it with breaks and poa madness
