Hi All. I am after some advice on regarding Double Manning and how it affects reduced rest laws. I see there is a prevoius post on thois subject but it was form 2010 so I would like to check to see if anyone can advise that it has changed.
My question is when double manning and the shift is over 13hrs, as long as the drivers have a minimun of 9hrs rest in the 30hr period does that count as reduced rest.
My thoughts and the replies in the priginal post from 2010 suggest it does not.
Anyones feedback would be much appriciated
Thank you

“Where a driver utilises the multi-manning daily rest concession (of 9 hours rest in a 30 hour period) that rest period cannot be counted as a regular daily rest as it is of less than 11 hours duration.”
As @franglais has posted a rest period of less than 11 is a reduced daily rest period regardless of whether or not you’re multi-manning.
Be aware that when multi-manning to have a regular daily rest period the 11 hours rest must be completed with the period of 30 hours from the start of the shift, any part of the 11 hours rest that does not fit into the 30 hour period from the start of the shift does not count towards the regular daily rest period.
As far as daily rest periods are concerned, the only difference between a multi-manned journey and a single manned journey is that when multi-manned you have 30 hours to complete the daily rest period instead of the 24 hours when single manned.
