Buy something like a Volvo Olympian or more modern - plenty about and spares still available. Don’t go buying anything older and especially steer well clear of Routemasters. Obvious, but it needs saying, once you have it treat it as what it is - a heavy commercial vehicle and keep it properly maintained regularly and not just once a year MOT.
marlow:
if you buy a bus over 30 years old and don’t carry more than 8 passengers you can drive it on a car licence
I know this has always been the case but where is the logic in this.
For example my wife is a car driver with 7.5t entitlement although the biggest vehicle she has probably driven is my S-MAX she couldn’t drive a bus that was 29 and a bit years old as she doesn’t have a licence for it but as soon as it turns 30 it’ll be easier for her to manage.
