The driver of the A reg went on to drive the E reg and still works for me today !! , He has been with us apporoaching 30 years .

30 years !! That’s some dedication , would be great to see some of the old fleet photos , tidy looking bunch you have now as well , the dorling name in large letters on the front is very distinctive .

Great pic rob , did you guys have a ford cargo artic ■■ I can see a rigid on the photo , seem to remember a tractor unit as well !!

Yes we did , it was originally a rigid …210hp cargo artic …Oh dear not a good move !! , It wouldnt pull a moorhen off its nest …!

Ha ha , im sure that was used as punishment for the under achievers

Rob if you dont mind me asking why do you buy mid lift 6x2 Dafs yet the Scania is a 6x2 tag axle?, why not buy tag axle Dafs?. Also notice on another thread that you have a new Daf on the way, were you unimpressed with the Scania?.

Hello Rob, i used to work for Perrys who im sure you know well, as you are now in their yard! My dad also worked for Perrys, and now drives for Nick Wilson, who you also know well!
I know you used to have a driver work for you called Derek (with a stutter) he used to work for Frosts when i was at Perrys, we were pulling CCC tilts from Felixstowe. I did work with Derek for Paul Williams, who lived at Wattisfield, but had a yard in Chadwell St Mary, we were pulling for Frans Maas

Derek was known as day-cab Derek at Frosts as he didnt like nights away, when we were at Williams he was away all week as we were doing continental, Derek was mainly doing France, i do beleive he left you to go and work for a French company, maybe Transports St Arnoulds with the blue Dafs? I was wondering if you know what hes doing now or where he lives, as i often drive past his house in Hepworth, but have never seen anyone there, he did tell me when we were working together (around1997-8) that he would like to move to France, i was wondering if he fulfilled his dream!?

This was the line up at Perrys yard not long after it had been built, approx1993-4ish.

I also used to work for a Swedish firm, and there were 2 of us that parked there at weekends

Kinde…Yes Derek worked for me until 2006ish , He is now working for TSA and sold the house last year and has a house in the limousin area , I often speak to him and ill go and stay with him next year as he has visitor accomodation , he allways comes to see me when he is over here , I remember thye williams lorry outside his house.

What is your dads name ? , which truck does he drive for Nick ? , I do quite a bit with nick and probably know your dad !!

Am i right in thinking you work for transam ? , I went past their yard yesterday as i was delivering to wingfield , yoxford and sizewell !!

Did perrys have a centurion at one point , I sure robert told me they had one which got damaged at a docks !

The guy you parked up with at perrys for the swedish firm is that dave ?

A couple of super space rear views !

So what’s the name of the firm then Rob? You really need to get your name on the trucks somewhere

Seen them around and about over the years, pretty striking livery that, for some reason I thought they were out of Southampton

Glad Derek chased his dream, i wont bother looking at his house as i pass it then!
My dads name is Mick (Gnomee), he drives a Scania, the most recent one Nick bought.

I did work for TransAm, finished last year, March time, as i got married, 3-6 months away isnt a good way to start a marriage!

Perrys never had a Centurion mate, they did have 2 Streamlines 143’S, one of which i drove, Phillip Mills drove the other. When i left to chase my dream of continental driving, my dad got my 143.

I dont know of any that got damaged at docks thou
Yep, the bloke i worked with in Sweden was Dave, he went on to drive for
Ove Ostergard, does he still park in your yard? Ive been round by his house a few times but his car is never there, i havent spoke to him for years.

Derek has well and trully caught his dream !! , He is very happy with his lot and his company work him so he ends up with his truck at home at the weekends !!

Yes i know gnomee , we did the signwriting on all of Nics latest trucks , He’s got a decent set there now . Where are you working now ? , Doing something a little more marriage friendly i pressume !!

Oh and yes Dave is still there , Although his car is allways in the yard , Not so marriage friendly !!
