Don't reverse on the motorway if you miss your exit!

youtu.be/ldfgEJpIgKM

See what happens when a coach attempts to reverse on a motorway after missing an exit, and gets rear ended by a truck.

Do you think it would be of assistance to road safety - if we didn’t mollycoddle our public into “not being allowed to see similar accidents in western countries”…?

These types of footage (fatal acccidents) are always “China, Thailand, India, Brazil”, etc.
NEVER the UK, USA, Australia, Canada, etc.

RIP to the driver concerned. The bus driver was out of order, and yet the innocent truck driver got killed. :frowning:

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

That is numpty driving of the highest order.

I wonder if the outcome would have been much different if the coach was just broken down, would the truck have still run in the back of it ?

Albeit it wasn’t foggy like the uk example

Trust me, if a coach rear ended by a lorry because it was reversing down the motorway happened here you’d know about it. You know sometimes there isn’t a big conspiracy. Sometimes things are just as they seem. The reason you see more of these videos coming from Russia and China has more to do with their terrible standard of driving and road safety rather than big brother hiding it from us

Yes I think it would be of great assistance to road safety. Most drivers are not seemingly not aware of how quickly things can go wrong. Some drivers are totally ignorant of their bad driving habits through years of complacency.

A real shame for all involved especially the truck driver but he may not have been totally innocent. Of course the coach driver was the main blame but the footage did say the truck was traveling at high speed and by the look of the video I doubt there was any attempt to brake or avoid the coach. Remember you should always be able to stop no matter what happens in front of you.

Not sure that is completely true. I agree a lot of countries have terrible driving standards but I have been to China and the standards are no worse than here. In fact I would say they were better if anything.
Can’t comment on Russia yet but as it happens we are off there in a couple of weeks (St Petersburg only) but it will be interesting to see their standards.

To me it looks like the bus was on the hard shoulder and as it turned the truck caught its tail swing
Winseer, switchlogic is right. Not everythings a conspiracy. If that happened in the uk we would have days of coverage with all sorts of “what happened” theories banded about.

couldn’t agree more. usually just a second or two to get to the point of no return.

To all those who say “I never wear a seatbelt” it’s pretty difficult IMHO to make that argument after watching that footage!

Why aren’t accident investigation reports published online in the same way the rail, maritime and air branches publish their accident investigation reports?

How can people learn from others mistakes when we can’t see that information?

They are. they are just called correners reports

I wasn’t saying it’s a conspiracy - just that I feel that less “being sheltered” from the ugly truth that “■■■■■■■■ actions causes death all the time everywhere in the world” is masked by our not being aware of it more - from lack of footage.
You might see a small item in a newspaper There was a collision on the M1. The deceased wasn’t rich or famous, so we’ll just say “a driver died at the scene” kind of thing - no footage, no mugshot of the deceased the next day “because it might upset the family” and all that. Green Screens up, both carriageways closed for recovery…
Getting killed isn’t a dignified thing - wherever in the world it happens. Let’s just not keep pretending that “we deal with it in a more dignified manner” in this country is what I’m thinking here.

“Hard, graphic truth” will do more to put other people off driving like idiots imho… :bulb:

Didn’t we all think those old “public information films” from the 70’s were hard hitting, and we remember them because of that…?

This public information film from the 1970’s entitled ‘One Minute’ has always stuck with me all these years since my childhood, and is the reason why I’ve constantly drummed into my kids to be careful when out near the road.

It’s a simple and effective message, but I doubt it would be allowed to be shown these days.

I think the bus driver should be charged with leaving the scene of an accident. (Through the drivers window).

Ah ok,got you now. Apologies. Your right I suppose. Deaths due to careless driving get a few sentances now, unless its someone “important”. but the problem is there are so many idiots out there who think THEIR journey is the most important and everyone else should get out of their way that no amount of coverage, news reports, information films, safe driving courses, threats or (my personal favourite for some of them) right good kickings will ever get them to drive safely

Were you watching the same clip? There is no hard shoulder, he’s reversing along a live lane

Yes ok,fair dos. Live lane or not, doesnt look like it was the tail swing that got hit as he turned either. Oops
