I think you’ll find you have to be qualified to be an electrician.

I get your point, but I think youve missed snowman
s point. Hes saying that you can blag your way into jobbing work by presenting yourself as something you
re not, but you can`t just climb into an artic and claim to be a licensed driver.
Some of the driving I see I wonder if the bloke actually has a licence
With you 100 percent there, bro.

I remember the days when you would get a free sticker with each mag,not having to subscribe for a year just to get one :roll if you subscribe to trucking you get a pair of work boots for nowt, there only £20 cheap efforts but better than a ten bob sticker that will probably on be used to hold a folder together thats dropping to bits
Another one from Germany.
It says - Without me the motorway will be nice and empty. Exactly the same as your fridge.

Mankind survived many years, maybe thousands of years depend on your beliefs without trucks.
Of course modern life depends heavily on trucks, we could. If we had to live without them. While I do see what you mean and agree to a certain extent,Id hate to see the state of the country after 2 days if trucks were banned from the roads. How would anything get anywhere? Almost everything available in shops is delivered there by a truck. Supermarkets would be stripped bare for a start. The major ones get 2-3 artic deliveries a day. No way is a fleet of transits going to sustain that.
People need to realise that whether they like us or not, they need us.
As for not saying its a trade, anyone can stick a sign on the side of a transit saying “builder” or “electrician” and start doing this whether they have a clue what they are doing or not and be classed as tradesmen doing a trade. But you cant get into a lorry without fist paying thousands of pounds in training and then sitting a test to prove you are capable. And you need seperate qualifications to haul specific things such as gases, livestock, oversized loads etc.
Im sorry but if your silly enough to think because you bought your hgv license its a trade then your being silly.i learned a trade over 4 years with regular testing and if i failed my skills test at the end then i may not have got a resit.a license you pass a few questions, medical and drive for a hour.lets be kind and say two weeks total time.then a week a piece for adr and hiab.so in a month total time you could have all hgv tickets.its the same as my doormans badge i paid for the training but was bot going to fail so paid for thqt badge in effect

I’ve seen one of these German motors in England with the same message.

Yeah, there was a lot about a few years ago. I remember a question being asked about what it translated as 7 or 8 years ago on here.
nearly there:

I didnt buy my license. I paid for training. Passing the test isnt guaranteed. Plenty of people could never drive an artic due to its size. And im not saying its a trade. Im saying its a job you need to be qualified to do. Anyone can learn and do a trade. I could learn to be an electrician if I wanted. Just because getting an HGV license is quicker to get doesn’t change the fact you need training and testing first.
I also had a doormans badge. And I agree with you its a joke because a bit like the cpc,you cant fail but need to be “qualified”. You buy that license.

You only pay for training to pass a simple test, that doesn’t make you a driver. You only have to look at the many questions asked on here from newly qualified drivers on everything from driving, to loading, to legal aspects to show how lacking the training actually is.
Truck driving is a semi-skilled labourers job and despite the ridiculous claims on various forums and Facebook groups that driver’s are superheroes, without whom the country would crumble, it really is no more important to daily life than countless other jobs. Life would be different, and not as easy, without trucks but we would survive.

Question. How would we survive in this age without large HGV’s supplying stores? Could you imagine the amount of vans needed to supply a large supermarket with stock?
We don’t NEED supermarkets. Ever heard of sustainable living?

We can also survive without large stores, we did it for hundreds of years and could do it again. Hence why I said life would be different. I sometimes go several weeks without setting foot in a supermarket, and I don’t resort to having the supermarket deliver. I don’t starve or go without things to get through my day.

“You”. Supermarkets are busy very day with people coming and going. How are you going to supply a town the size of Lincoln with small local stores? We’ve become too reliant on supermarkets as part of our everyday lives. You take away the supermarkets and the area dies off. Also, ig you take away HGV’s, you’ll be adding hundreds of vans to the roads.
I think someone can’t see the point here

funnily enough they seemed to get along fine before the rise of the superstore in 60/70s . only reason so many are packed is we are told to go buy lots of useless junk and tat by huge media advertising and lifestyle programmes constantly telling us we have to have the latest gadget or trendy furniture . we have fallen for the consumerism mantra pushed onto us by the very people who make millions from it like sheep . to many in this counrty are happy with the bread and circus act being used to distract them by those carving things up for them selves

Again, I said it would be a different life but we, the human race, would survive. So it ain’t the superhero, “everything would be over without us” job that some love to make it out to be. It’s no more important than many other jobs to our daily life but it seems to be a feature of this one that people big it up to be more than it is.
